Manager's Insight

It is hard to believe that 2016 is less than a month away. It is almost Christmas and time to

cherish our family and friends. I for one have many things to be thankful for. I have a job that I

love and a wonderful family and great friends. I think often times we think too much on what

we don't have and not enough on the things that we do have. Merry Christmas and Happy

New Year from the staff at Southport Springs, Sun Communities and Myself.

I would like to say thank you to the HOA ( I loved my flowers, thank you), the Sunshine

Committee, all of the cards from a lot of you wishing me well. When you are not feeling well it

is amazing how much the cards and flowers mean. They somehow make you feel better.

We have a lot of construction going on and we are almost 1/2 way there. But we still have

much to do. I will get to work quickly to assure we get back on track and get our pool open.

Stay tuned for more updates. Thank you

Terri Passaro, Community Manager

White Elephant Party

Let's Have Some Fun, and Try Something New!!

A white elephant gift exchange is a lighthearted way to have fun with your work colleagues, or at

family gatherings. White elephant gifts are gender appropriate gifts . The thought behind a white

elephant gift exchange is to give everyone a chance to rid themselves of these tacky gifts—and

invariably gain a new one! White elephant gift exchanges can be run different ways. Some set

rules that the item must be previously owned, which means that you are re-gifting an unwanted

item or trinket. Others purchase a new, generally inexpensive item just for the party.

The goal is to choose wacky, funny or entertaining gifts.

If you're really stumped, just pay a visit to your local thrift store.

Join us on Friday, December 18th at 6pm in the Clubhouse ballroom.

Please bring a gender appropriate gift no more than $15 pp.

The gift needs to be wrapped (no name or description).

You may bring your own drinks, coffee, hot chocolate and desserts will be provided.

Have your picture taken with Santa, and much more fun!.

Rules and Regulations will be discussed in detail at the beginning of event.

Silver Needles

The Silver Needles will keep their regular schedule for December.

On the first Wednesday, Dec 2nd we will meet for a sewing day.

The clubhouse will be open around 10am till mid afternoon.

On the 3rd sunday, Dec 20th, we will have our regular meetingf/sewing day and a Christmas

Party. At 1pm we will break for a business meeting, followed by our party. Please bring an

appitizer or finger food to share. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, you will need to

bring a wrapped gift in the $10 price range.

(It would be nice if these were sewing/quilting related.)

Anybody interested in joining our group is welcome. Now would be a good time before we start

new projects for the New Year.

I will email members with more information as the day gets closer

Hope you can join us for the fun and food.

Women's Club News

First of all THANK YOU to all who attended the dance on Nov 7th. I'm sure

you will agree that Karl Sapp did a great job singing and entertaining all evening.

We raised a surprising (not really) amount of money to help our Veteran who

is now a single father of four children under the age of 5!!. The Women's Club will be purchasing a used washer/dyer

for this family as well as laundry supplies, diapers, and a gift card for groceries. We

are grateful for the chance to help this deserving Veteran and thank you all for

your support. For the next weeks, Dec 1st thru the 15th,

we will be collecting food pantry items for Christmas donation to one of our local

pantries. The basket will be located in the ballroom. Thank you in advance for your

help with this project. Another way to volunteer to help local

school children is to join other Southport Springs residents at Thomas' Promise "bag packing". Several Women's Club

members go on Thursday, but they can also use help on Mon. and Wed. For more

info on this opportunity, call Carole Gagne at

813-788-7434 or Carol Dziki at

813-783-9761.

Have a happy, healthy holiday season.

Our Gift to Others

Thanks- A word expressed in appreciation

for our family, friends, health, our faith,

being able to work, our country, the men

and women in the armed forces who

protect us and the lifestyle we live

because of their devotion.

Giving to others is something we're born

with, a sense of obligation, completeness

and pride!

Let us at Southport Springs

Community share in the giving to others

less fortunate in the surrounding areas of

Zephyrhills.

****I'll be taking donations of FROZEN

Turkeys on***

Friday, December 18th from 10 am to

12 pm.

All donations will be delivered on the

dame day received to local families, food

banks, etc..

Allow me to thank you in advance for

your generosity, and thoughtfulness on

behalf of others in their time of need.

RV Lot

Everyone should have their Lot numbers, name and telephone number attached to their unit

otherwise they will be

TOWED AWAY.

As it stands right now there's no way for us to know whether someone is dropping the unit

off from outside the community or if we have an emergency with their vehicle we would

need to contact them.

This is the only requirements for the storage unit but it must be followed.

Thank You.

Your HOA HOA News

At the start of our recent Annual Statutory meeting Sun Communities management

stated they will do their best to make all things better in our community. They confirmed a commitment to excellence in their service to our residents. They are

certainly "walking the talk'. We appreciate Sun Communities continually making improvements and also their willingness to listen.

The November social activities increased significantly with the HOA and other

organizations hosting special events and fund raisers. We trust everyone is enjoying the variety of activities.

The cost for an annual membership in the Southport Springs Homeowners Association will remain $30.00 per household. We encourage you to complete the

2016 New Member/Renewal Application and submit it, along with your $30.00 annual dues, to an HOA Board Director.

HOA 2016 Membership Applications are available in the folder on the HOA Bulletin Board or on the HOA Web Page at WWW.SOUTHPORTSPRINGSHOA.COM under the

HOA Documents link/HOA Membership/Renewal Form-2016.

Our Annual General Membership Meeting will take place on Saturday, January 16th at 10 am.in the clubhouse. At this meeting there will be:

* An election for the 2016-2017 Board of Directors * There are 4 director positions that must be filled in this election.

* A vote for approval to changes in the HOA By-Laws. * Some of the recommended changes are worthy of your review and vote.

You must be a member of the HOA for 2016 to participate and vote at this meeting. We must have 50% + 1 of HOA households present at this meeting to constitute a

quorum. If we do not have a quorum, we will not be able to implement a valid election. Please complete your 2016 HOA membership application before this

meeting. Please make an extra effort for at least one person from each household to be present at this meeting. Your HOA Board of Directors thanks you for your

consideration regarding these important requests.

On behalf of your HOA Board of Directors, we thank you for your support and encouragement in 2015. We wish your a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We look forward to a rewarding and successful HOA in the coming year.

Barbara Holdridge - HOA President

Golfers Corner

Caddy Shack This and That

Fall leagues are now in full force. A couple more outside leagues due to start by end of

November. The course is very busy and I ask all to be patient.

The Pro Shop will try to get all out on time but sometimes there may be delays.

We are still in our temporary home just inside the clubhouse. Have not received a date to

move back to old location.

We have a minimal selection of shirts (Guys & Girls) with Southport Logo, hats, gloves, golf

balls, tees. A Catalog is here for your personal selection and style. Stop in and check them

out. Right now our inventory is selected styles with plans to grow and grow. Ideas always

welcome.

Over seeding is projected to start by Wednesday, December 2nd. On this

day the Golf Course will be CLOSED. No confirmed date on the install of Granite

Tee Box yardage signs.

Watch for signs on #1 and #10 when insecticide spraying and liquid fertilizer have been

applied.

Want to express the importance of the 90* rule in effect at all times.

Do not go inside cart sign boundaries or with 30' of the greens.

Handicapped carts no closer than 15' and never on the greens. PLEASE abide by these

rules.I am asking all golfers to police and please tell those that violate these rules to not

do it again. Please use extreme courtesy when approaching those violating the rules. This is

our course and as it improves we want it to stay as nice as can be.

All par 3's are CART PATH ONLY.

Again I want to thank everyone in advance for their support and cooperation to help make

each and every round of golf a fun and enjoyable time for all.

Thanks and Happy Golfing

Over Seeding

Due the over seeding that will happen on

Wednesday, December 2nd.

The Golf Course will be CLOSED that day

Golf Committee

The Golf Committee has had a meeting with Terri Passaro and Dave Stemen and have resolved

the issue of who runs the Rules Committee. There will be a sub committee, Rules Committee,

members appointed by Ron Hargrove. We thank Terri for her help in resolving this matter.

We also met with IGM's Mgr. Greg Plotner who explained that he will be fertilizing the greens

and the fairways, yes the fairways. (At mid Nov. greens fertilized three times, fairways two

times). They have adjusted all the sprinkler heads to optimize the water we do have. They also

have installed new tee markers, new flags and cups, and new yardage markers. IGM has been

here a little more than a month now and our golf course has never looked better in the six years

that I have lived here. It's amazing what water and the correct fertilizer will do. Thank you! The

over seeding is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd. The greens should be all fuzzie at

this reading.

I would also like to give a special shout out to Francis Guilmette. He is our one of a kind Gopher

Hunter. He will stand and watch a gopher mound for movement, for longer than I care too, and

then sneak up to it in his stocking feet and dispatch the critter. At this writing his count is 254!

He told me that he is going to have a Gopher Fur coat made for Cindy. The next time you see

Francis say thanks, there would be gophers every where without him.

You too can help in improving our golf course by following our course rules such as, the 90*

rule, park on the cart path by the greens, keep the rakes in the bunkers. And as our golf course

is now looking better and better how about us doing the same, proper attire on the course.

Thank you.
