At IMpACT: boston, you will go beyond volunteering to explore the root issues that underlie some of society’s biggest challenges. During this two-week program, you will go behind the scenes and meet with professional activists and community leaders who have dedicated their lives to helping others. You’ll work in a team environment with local non-profit organizations to see first-hand how they address real problems in their community, and how they work to change the cause of the problem and also support the lives of those most impacted. Your service goes beyond one program or one group; instead, you learn the skills and tools that will empower you to start a lifetime of work as an agent of change in your own community. All of this while meeting friends you’ll keep forever.

Each program shares the core elements of active touring, community service, cross-cultural interactions, and meaningful Jewish experiences, not to mention the company of other teens seeking a fun-filled, transformative summer experience.

Today, passport to the world represents the largest provider of international Jewish teen travel programs, taking more than 700 teens to cities throughout 14 countries, such as the uk, france, Costa Rica and Israel. As bbYO’s global travel program, passport trip experiences are available for Jewish teens of all backgrounds.

trip Dates & Cost Passport trips vary in length, from two to five weeks, with multiple departure dates available throughout June and July. Most of the trips can also be combined with a special one-week extension program in Israel. Thinking about signing up for a trip? Don’t wait! IlTC is the premier domestic leadership development experience designed for current or aspiring AZA/bbG regional, council or international leaders. The program builds on the leadership skills and formats used at ClTC, including dividing teens into mock regions to teach them how to be effective leaders at bbYO events, at school and in extracurricular activities. IlTC explores the concepts of Jewish leadership and what it means to live a Jewish life. Important values in the Jewish tradition are taught while inspiring participants to look within themselves to discover why Judaism matters and how it informs the decisions they make around their daily challenges. The program helps teens build character and identity, and its graduates often remain active in Jewish life long after high school. The experience is a stand-out on college resumes.

ClTC is designed to teach teens essential leadership skills in a group dynamic. It connects AZA/bbG peers throughout north America and helps them build a solid network of long-lasting relationships. Developed from principles outlined in Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, ClTC provides teens with the skills necessary to develop solid work habits, collaborate with their peers in a positive environment, recognize their strengths, and set standards for themselves now and in their future years as adults.

Specifically, teens work in mock AZA and BBG chapters where teamwork and community must be established to develop a year-long chapter plan, including marketing and outreach, budgeting and program building. The skills and resources they learn at ClTC will stay with them long after they return home, aiding them as they work in their chapters to run meetings, hold elections, deliver speeches, and fundraise for their community.

In addition to leadership skills, participating teens learn the policies and procedures established in the aza/BBg model:

• AZA/BBG Traditions: history and songs, Cardinal Principles and Menorah Pledge

• Starting a New Chapter: chapter standards, working with advisors, and fundraising

• “How-To” Sessions: parliamentary procedure, problem solving, BBYO policies, youth dashboard training, and best practices

kallah offers a deep Judaic experience in which participants are given the opportunity to explore their own Jewish identity and engage with spirituality, culture and religion. The kallah experience strives to provide exposure to some of the core principles, values and tenets of Jewish life. kallah brings together a faculty of some of the most talented educators, artists, thinkers and creative minds that the Jewish community has to offer, and provides teens with a forum to learn from and work with one another to delve deeper into the aspects of Judaism that they find meaningful—all in a camp environment. The program requires no background in formal Jewish education. In fact, the Kallah community flourishes through the diversity of its participants and their experiences, traditions and knowledge. Teens will emerge from the kallah program with a strong sense of self, but also of kehillah (community), feeling connected to their fellow participants through bonds and friendships that will last for years to come.

• From the first song to the last Havdalah candle, Shabbat is planned entirely by participants (with the guidance of educators, of course). kallah is a very intense and focused program, and participants and staff alike work to create a true separation from a week of hard work to Shabbat, where they have the chance to rest.
