Dear Parents/Carers

Following my letter to you last November about the proposed Year 9 Camp, due to the level of interest and the confirmed commitment to meet the payment schedule, I am pleased to inform you we are now able to proceed with this trip.

The trip will take place from Monday 10th July to Friday 14th July, departure times will be confirmed at a later date. As previously stated we will be staying at Linnet Clough Scout Camp near Marple. The site has excellent facilities with gender segregated toilet blocks and hot showers, activity specific spaces, professional standard catering facilities, public telephone and a camp tuck shop. Whilst we will be using a field to camp in, there are also a large number of separate dormitory spaces should the need arise to use them. Most of the planned activities will be taking place on the site.

In this correspondence you will be provided with information about the trip and you will also be required to sign and return some documentation – please can you ensure that the return deadlines are met to assist with the smooth running of the trip.

Planned activities:

Activities on the trip are will involve students undertaking a variety of challenges which may include: archery, low ropes, rifles, climbing, cave maze, pedal karts, Frisbee golf, mountain biking, high ropes, guided walk, laser tag and inflatable challenges. A range of evening entertainments will also be provided. All activities will be fully supervised and where necessary will be taught by instructors and members of outside agencies with specialist qualifications.

Costs:As indicated in the interest letter the cost of the trip is £200.00 which covers all travel, accommodation, activities and food. Please can you ensure that the initial deposit of £50 be paid on ParentPay by Friday 10th February 2017 and the remaining balance of £150.00 to be paid by 2nd June 2017, interim payments may be made at your convenience . As I have been able to negotiate some very competitive prices for this trip, it is essential that the payment schedule is met.

Parents Information Evening:

An information evening will be held after the half term break, date to be confirmed. During the evening I will go through the trip in more detail. You will also be given the opportunity to ask questions.

What to do next:

Attached to this letter is a medical and emergency contacts form for you to complete and return. In addition a kit list is attached for you to prepare for the trip.

Please can you make the initial deposit payment by Friday 24th February 2017. Please complete the medical and emergency contacts form (ensure that all pages are

complete) and return by Friday 9th Febuary 2017.

The viability of the trip was made on the response received from the interest letter last year, this also determined the final cost of the trip, and we therefore expect the commitments made by parents to be upheld. We reserve the right to withdraw the place if the behaviour of any student gives cause for concern.

PLESE CAN YOU ENSURE THAT YOU SIGN ALL SECTIONS OF THE REPLY SLIP.

If you have any questions prior to returning both items please do not hesitate to contact me via email: [email protected]

Yours sincerely
