QUESTION OF THE WEEK
What specific threads of “charity in action” are woven together to fashion the “wedding garment” needed for my presence at Jesus’ feast? Is it time I got back to work at the proverbial loom?

THE HEAVENLY BANQUET
The mountain of the Lord described in today's first reading is a place where there is no more hunger, no more weeping, and no more division of any kind. We need to pause and ponder these images every now and then, especially given the fact that we live in such a fractured world. The responsorial psalm continues to paint a picture of a place where only goodness and kindness flourish. These readings describe the heavenly banquet, to which God calls each of us through baptism and continues to call us throughout our lives. Let us "RSVP" to God's invitation and live our lives consistent with gospel values so that one day we will be welcomed to the table of the kingdom. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
WEDDING BANNS
FAMILY PERSPECTIVES
The king in today’s gospel sent wedding invitations to all his close friends…people like himself. But the party wasn’t successful until he opened the doors to everyone…to people not like himself.
The Christian family opens its heart and doors to everyone because we know that joy happens through sharing with others beyond our own family. Charity begins and extends beyond home.

FROM THE PASTOR, FR. NORM
It is good to be back home. Thanks for all your prayers as I journeyed “following the footsteps of St. Paul” through many towns and archaeological discoveries in Greece. I am sure you will hear about many of my adventures through future homilies. I had
the wonderful opportunity to stand at the spot where St. Paul preached in the city of Corinth. I chose Paul as my Confirmation name 51 years ago. We celebrated Eucharist there among the ancient ruins…and, of course, I preached - believe it or not - briefly.
Our St. Vincent dePaul Parish, now 180 years old, is grounded in a 2000-year-old vital Catholic Christian tradition. In last week’s parish bulletin, we presented several prioritized goals which were discerned at our annual Parish Gathering. Our next step is for groups of parishioners to come together around a specific Parish life component and develop objectives/action ideas to accomplish in the coming year.
If you have specific action ideas you want to see considered, please participate in the appropriate upcoming meeting. You will then have the choice whether you want to continue on in the Commission which will coordinate the implementation of these ideas.
Below is the list of parish components and where and when people will meet to develop action ideas.
