presence to the world. Classes will be held at Our Lady of

Lourdes beginning on Monday September 12th from 6:30-

Priests, Deacons, Religious and Parishes:

Our country is again in turmoil. It does not take a long

walk back in history to the days of persecution of Catholic

immigrants, the KKK’s attacks on African-Americans, Jews

and Catholics even here in Iowa), the witch hunts for

“errant beliefs” of the McCarthy era, to see the parallels to

today’s unrest, the pitting of one group against anoth-

er. Today, our instant communications and the ability to

provide opinions, facts, slogans, and disingenuous

material at a rate that makes it difficult assess the value or

integrity of what we hear and see adds to the

turmoil. Recognizing the need to end the turmoil, the

violence, the acts contrary to the life and dignity of all as

creations of God, the president of the U.S. Conference of

Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has invited all dioceses across

the country to unite in a Day of Prayer for Peace in Our

Communities on Sept. 9, the feast of St. Peter Claver.

DAVENPORT WEST CLUSTER YOUTH MINISTRY St Alphonsus youth will be meeting in the Upper Room

every Weds evening from 6:30 to 7:45. If you have not

yet signed up you can sign up at the first meeting Au-

gust 31st.

St Peters youth will meet Sunday mornings @ 11am

starting Sept 4th.

Help is needed to set up flags on Labor Day

Sept.5th, in the morning and/or help take them down

in early evening.

Preliminary information is available for NCYC

2017. Those who will be 9th grade and above in the

2017-2018 school year are eligible to attend. A

"preliminary estimate" is needed by October 1, 2016 so

please contact us in order to reserve your space.

The DWC is selling the 2016-2017 Dining Tour Book-

lets. 2 for 1 coupons at over 140 area restau-

rants. Each book is $35.00 and the Youth Ministry re-

ceives $12.00 for each book sold to help fund our

NCYC and DCYC youth conference attendance.

or phone (563)381-7403,

Congratulations on another fantastic parish family effort for

the Fall Festival! The support and willingness to pitch in and

also to have a good time was so evident and pervasive in

these last few weeks. Hopefully everyone who attended had

a good time, whether they were family, friends, or new faces.

Thank you to all who put their time, talents and resources

towards making this years festival a success.

your new rates.
