Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I am very grateful to God and glad to be able to serve as the administrator of
St. Mary of the Assumption Parish. I thank from the bottom of my heart Fr. Carlos,
Fr. John and all the Augustinian priests and brothers who have served during so
many years in this parish with so much love and dedication. We will keep all of
them in our prayers.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Fr. Israel J. Rodriguez. I was born
in Barcelona and grew up in Granada, the south of Spain. I am the oldest of 12 brothers and
sisters and I already have 38 nephews and nieces! When I was 19 years old, I was sent as a
missionary to Newark, New Jersey, where I did some of my studies. In 2005 I was sent to the
Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Boston where I completed my formation and was ordained to
the priesthood by Cardinal Sean O’Malley in 2009. I have served previously in the Parishes of
Immaculate Conception, Marlborough, St. Patrick, Lawrence and St. Joseph in Lynn.
From the very start I want you to know that the doors of my heart and of my office are opened to
all of you. I humbly ask for your prayers in this time of transition. I know that changes are not
easy, but I trust that God will give us all the patience, love and spirit to go ahead loving Him and
one another.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Estoy muy agradecido a Dios y contento de poder venir a servir como administrador de la
Parroquia de Santa María de la Asunción. Agradezco de todo corazón al P. Carlos, P. John y todos
los sacerdotes y hermanos Agustinos que han servido durante tantos años en esta parroquia con
mucho amor y dedicación. A todos ellos los mantendremos en nuestras oraciones.
Permítanme presentarme. Soy el P. Israel J. Rodríguez. Nací en Barcelona y crecí en Granada, el
sur de España. Soy el mayor de 12 hermanos y ¡tengo ya 38 sobrinos! A los 19 años fui enviado
como misionero a Newark, New Jersey, donde hice parte de mis estudios. En el 2005 fui enviado
al Seminario Redemptoris Mater de Boston, donde completé mi formación y fui ordenado
sacerdote por el Cardenal Sean O’Malley en el 2009. He servido en las Parroquias de la
Inmaculada Concepción de Marlborough, San Patricio en Lawrence y San José en Lynn.
Desde ya les digo que las puertas de mi corazón y de mi oficina están abiertas para todos ustedes.
Pido humildemente sus oraciones en este tiempo de transición. Sé que los cambios no son fáciles,
pero confío en que Dios nos dará a todos paciencia, amor y espíritu de seguir adelante amándolo
a Él y a los hermanos.

Father Maciej Araszkiewicz, Parochial Vicar
A proud son of Poland, Father Maciej was born on May 26, 1978, the oldest son of Marek and Jadwiga Araszkiewicz. He attended school in Poland and has two advanced degrees: A Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Computer Science. The faith of the pilgrims he met on a pilgrimage to the shrine in Czestochowa was an important moment in his journey of faith. At the invitation of his cousin he attended the catechesis of the Neocatecumenal Way. He came to Boston and was assigned to Redemptoris Mater Seminary. He studied at Saint John’s Seminary in Boston. As a seminarian he had two years of pastoral formation in Brooklyn and one year in Detroit. He also made a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He served his deacon assignment at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, East Boston. He was ordained on May 18th and begins his ministry as a priest at Saint Mary of the Assumption.
Father Ignacio, Senior Priest
At the time we prepared the bulletin Father Ignacio was on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We can share with you that Father Ignacio was born in Colombia, came to the United States and has served in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston. We will have more information in next week’s bulletin.
Padre Maciej Araszkiewicz, Vicario Parroquial
Un orgulloso hijo de Polonia, el Padre Maciej nació el 26 de mayo de 1978, el hijo mayor de Marek y Jadwiga Araszkiewicz. Asistió a la escuela en Polonia y tiene dos títulos avanzados: un doctorado en ingeniería mecánica y una maestría en ciencias de la computadora. La fe de los peregrinos que conoció en una peregrinación al santuario en Czestochowa fue un momento importante en su camino de fe. Por invitación de su primo asistió a la catequesis del Camino Neocatecumenal. Vino a Boston y fue asignado al Seminario Redemptoris Mater. Estudió en el Seminario de San Juan en Boston. Como seminarista tuvo dos años de formación pastoral en Brooklyn y un año en Detroit. También hizo una peregrinación al Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Sirvió como diácono en la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, East Boston. Fue ordenado el 18 de mayo y comienza su ministerio como sacerdote en Santa María de la Asunción.

Podemos compartir que el Padre Ignacio nació en Colombia, vino a los Estados Unidos y ha servido en varias parroquias en la Arquidiócesis de Boston. On Friday we celebrate the Eucharist with the Gradu-
ating Class of Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School,
the administration and staff of the school, their fami-
lies and friends. In addition to the academic course
of study the seniors have worked for four years at
various companies and organizations, including Saint
Mary of the Assumption Parish. They celebrate this
Eucharist with us at a parish
Mass.

The Graduation Ceremony will be in our church
On Saturday Morning at 10:30.

de Notre Dame Cristo Rey que van a graduar, la
administración y personal de la la escuela, sus

Cumplieron los requisitos del curso académico y
durante sus cuatro años trabajaron en diversas
empresas y organizaciones, incluida Santa María de
la Asunción. Celebran esta eucaristía con nosotros en
una Misa Parroquial.

Thank you and Many Blessings… Short simple words that come from our hearts. As we complete this part of our ministry here at Saint Mary of the Assumption and move on to new communities and ministries, we want to thank you for being part of our lives and welcoming us into your lives in so many different ways, at our celebration of the Eucharist and the Sacraments, moments of joy and celebration, moments of sadness and loss, working together and praying together. As Augustine would say over the years we have been “growing in one mind and heart on our way to God”. As we go forth we bring with us so many memories and how you have helped us to grow as men of faith, as ministers. Thank you for the many tokens of your affection and friendship, cards and gifts that show your appreciation for us. Blessings to you and to Father Israel, Father Maciej and Father Ignacio as you go on and continue to be and serve God’s people as the parish community of Saint Mary of the Assumption. In our liturgies these final days of Easter, Jesus prepares His disciples for His return to the Father. His leaving was difficult for them – all farewells are difficult, yet the Spirit of God, God’s gift at Pentecost is the Consoler, the memory of Jesus’ words and deeds and the Guidance into the future. Mientras completamos esta parte de nuestro ministerio aquí en Santa María de la Asunción y pasamos a nuevas comunidades y ministerios, queremos agradecerles por ser parte de nuestras vidas y darnos la bienvenida a sus vidas de tantas maneras diferentes, en nuestra celebración de la Eucaristía y de los Sacramentos, en momentos de alegría y celebración, y momentos de tristeza y pérdida, trabajando juntos, orando juntos. Como diría Agustín a lo largo de los años hemos estado "creciendo en una sola alma y corazón en nuestro camino hacia Dios". A medida que avanzamos, traemos con nosotros muchos recuerdos y cómo ustedes nos han ayudado a crecer como hombres de fe, y como ministros.
