LITURGY AND PRAYERS
AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sac-ramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
PRAYER DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother Mary, We, your children of every nation, Turn to you in this pandemic. Our troubles are numerous; our
fears are great. Grant that we might deposit them at your feet, Take refuge in your Immaculate Heart, And obtain peace, healing, rescue, And timely help in all our needs. You are our Mother. Pray for us to your Son. Amen.
TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME-AUGUST 16, 2020
WEEKLY MEDITATION
AN EXCERPT FROM Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence
"We trust ourselves to a doctor because we suppose he knows
his business. He orders an operation which involves cutting away
part of our body and we accept it. We are grateful to him and
pay him a large fee because we judge he would not act as he
does unless the remedy were necessary, and we must rely on his
skill. Yet we are unwilling to treat God in the same way! It looks
as if we do not trust His wisdom and are afraid He cannot do His
job properly. We allow ourselves to be operated on by a man
who may easily make a mistake—a mistake which may cost us
our life—and protest when God sets to work on us. If we could
see all He sees we would unhesitatingly wish all He wishes."
— Fr. Jean Baptiste Saint-Jure, p. 90
ADULT FAITH FORMATION AND RCIA
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW EDWARDIANS
This is a class on Becoming Fully Catholic and also an opportunity for Catholics to learn more about their faith as an adult. The letters stand for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). RCIA is a journey in faith for: the unchurched the unbaptized baptized Christians seeking a new way Catholics seeking more knowledge of their faith who wish to learn about their faith as an adult and not rely on a child's faith formation. Due to COVID, this year will look very much different than in previous years. Pope Francis tells of accompanying, teaching, mentoring, guiding one on one. That is our goal for this year. Each person who is interested in the program to have his or her own guide. We will meet in the office or possibly somewhere else that you and your guide decide for approximately an hour at a time that works for all. If you are in need of Sacraments and have no one in mind to act as your sponsor, one will be provided for you and then join as a group of three. If you have a sponsor in mind, they will join the two of you after a few weeks. If interested, call Anne Brennan at 301-249-9199 ext 1 or email Anne [email protected]
