MINISTRY OF THE MONTH ST. EDWARD’S MUSIC MINISTRY The St. Edward's Music Ministry strives to combine FAITH, FELLOWSHIP, and MUSIC to help all who gather feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. Many

collaborate in this mission- Adult Choir, Conmigos Choir, Youth Choir, Children’s Choir, Cantors, and Instrumentalists. There is a place for you in this musical community! Questions? Contact Megan Weeks at [email protected] A Place in the Choir Lord, so often we get carried away with ourselves, and others, who observe us, think they could never sing so as to deserve a place in this choir. But you know differently, you the Creator who turned dew into manna, water into wine, clay into finest pottery. You have a space for every voice. Keep us humble in our task, humble enough to know that every voice, no matter how weak or strong, is beautiful and has a place here. For to you, each of our voices sounds wonderful. Whether we “sing out loud on a telephone wire, or just clap our hands . . . or paws . . . or anything we got.” Jeanne Hunt, from Choir Prayers Adult Choir: Weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays from 7:30pm-9:30pm and alternates between the 9:30am and 11:30am Sunday Masses. Rehearsals begin September 11th. Conmigos Choir: For more information about this group, please contact Manny Alega, [email protected], or Virna Flores, [email protected]. Youth Choir: Weekly rehearsals on Tuesday from 5:30pm-6:30pm and choir sings at alternating 5:30pm Saturday Masses. Rehearsals begin September 10th. Children’s Choir: Members must be able to read independently. Weekly rehearsals Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm and choir sings at alternating 9:30am Sunday Masses. Rehearsals begin September 11th.

    ST. EDWARD’S YOUNG ADULT

GROUP The next Young Adult Group of St. Edward’s will be held on September 7th.

All Young Adults (ages 21-35-married and single) are invited the 1st Saturday of every month to gather about 6:45pm over at Fr. Scott’s place for fellowship and food/beverages.

  • TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME—SEPTEMBER 1, 2019

From the Desk of Our Pianist:Allison Freeman I am so thrilled to be bringing the Stretto Chamber Music Series to St. Edward’s! It has always been a dream of mine to create a concert series, and I cannot imagine a better place

for it to happen. The primary goals of Stretto are: To share incredible music performed by world-class artists from around the world. (Think “concert at the Kennedy Center”, but brought here to our community! This season will feature talent from Cuba, Israel, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.) To bring together musicians and audiences from all backgrounds and cultures. To create a new context for closer community, and to welcome others to be a part of the wonderful things that go on at St. Edward’s. On September 15th at 3:00pm, I will play a solo piano recital as a pre-series fundraising event. This recital will be free and open to all. I am so excited to share some of my favorite music with you, and to share a bit more about the four concerts I have planned for the 2019-2020 season. Each of these concerts will be followed by a light reception, where audience members and musicians can chat over a glass of wine! Of course, organizing a series of concerts entails far greater expenses and far more logistical work than I could have imagined, and any support that you can give (whether it’s financial support, or volunteering your time and talent) truly means the world to me. For more information, check out www.strettochamber.org, and if you are interested in being involved in this project, I am more than delighted to find a way you can help! Catch me at a Mass, or send an email to [email protected]. Thank you so much for your time and support!

    God’s Blessings, Allison
