Second Sunday of Advent December 9, 2018
Come, O God, within our hearts
Dear Parishioner, At this time of year, why not consider a gift to your parish? The good news is you still have time to make a charitable gift that will lower your taxable income preserving more cash for you and your family. Here are three charitable giving strategies worth considering that can provide you with additional tax savings and cash flow:
CASH GIFT - Make a gift of any amount and receive an income tax deduction this year.
APPRECIATED ASSET GIFT - Avoid capital gains tax on the sale of your assets by giving your stock or real estate to charity. Save on taxes with a charitable deduction. CHARITABLE LIFE INCOME PLAN - Make a gift and receive income for life! Avoid capital gains tax by giving an appreciated asset and receive a charitable tax deduction. Fr. Seamus
Our St. Angela Merici Parish welcomes
Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Garcia, who comes to us from Austin, Texas, as our new Bishop of the Diocese of Monterey. He will be installed on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
We extend our warmest wishes and keep him in our prayers as he transitions to the Monterey
area and becomes our Bishop here in the Diocese of Monterey.
St. Angela Merici Parish extends a warm welcome to the 5th Bishop
of Monterey!

There will be a Special Collection
this Saturday and Sunday, December 8th and 9th, at all the
Masses to help with funds for Retired Religious.
The income available to support
elder religious is decreasing. There are far fewer younger
members available to support the retirement and eldercare of senior
members.
Contribute to this important fund. Be as generous as you can.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Success
Thanks to your overwhelming generosity we were able to give out 48 Thanksgiving Food boxes, one for each hungry family
who came to our Cupboard just before Thanksgiving.
Each family received a turkey, pumpkin pie, rolls and butter, plus stuffing mix, potatoes, cranberries, yams, olives, canned green beans, and fresh celery, onions and oranges, candy and special toiletries. We also gave a No-Cook bag, small canned
ham, and a MacDonald’s gifts card to 17 individuals who came with no cooking facilities.
Everything was paid for by generous parishioners who donated to our Thanksgiving Food Drive. With the left over funds we
will provide hams to all our clients for Christmas.
We had a fantastic crew of volunteers who assembled and gave out all the food. All volunteers and clients had a joy-filled
day! God Bless all who helped make this drive such a success by
donating time and/or money!!
