Promoting God’s Authority

… I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. 1 Peter 5:1 (NIV)

Dear Kingdom-Movers,

In his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), Jesus taught that the primary way to get the things we need in life is, ironically, not to pursue them.

Matthew 6:31-34 (Passion Translation) So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” 32For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require? 33So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. 34Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. To-morrow will take care of itself.

Instead of intensely pursuing the less important things, Jesus invited his followers to a higher passion. He called them to the true core of a fulfilled life, which is to “constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom.” We seek first the kingdom of God, then the stuff gets added. “God first” is the launching point of our hearts’ desires.

As we seek the Kingdom, we’ll be moving the Kingdom. That means we’re promoting the authority of God. We’re expanding the influence of Christ. We’re extending the impact of the Holy Spirit. And we’re welcoming the in-volvement of the Kingdom’s angelic host (armies) every-where we go.

A kingdom is a “king’s domain.” The Kingdom of God is The King’s domain. It’s His realm, extent and display of dominion and authority. When the Lord God gets what He wants in a situa-tion, that’s a manifes-tation of His King-dom.

Jesus taught that the Kingdom was present when he him-self was present (Luke 17:20-21), and also when the spirit of God was powerfully evidenced (Matthew 10:1, 7-8; 12:28; Luke 11:20). Paul taught that God’s realm wasn’t a reign of talk, or what we eat or drink, but instead, that the

MOVINGtheKINGDOM

Kingdom was found in power, righteousness, peace, and in joy in the moving of the holy spirit (Romans 14:17; 1 Corin-thians 4:20).

There are around 100 kings listed in Scripture. Among those, God and Christ themselves are also described in regal terms. Psalm 145:11-13 says, “They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; 12To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. 13Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all gen-erations.” (See also Psalm 22:28; 45:6; 103:19; 1 Timothy 1:7; 6:13-16.)

Colossians 1:13 (Passion Translation) He [God] has rescued us completely from the tyrannical rule of darkness and has translated us into the king-dom realm of his beloved Son.

In the Book of Acts, believers were criticized because (continued on page 2)

dence, assurance, or reliance on something or someone. We build the King-dom by faith. When we’re trusting God, we’re moving the Kingdom. Trust (faith) requires an object. Trust propels confidence toward a target. We trust God (Mark 11:22). We trust the Lord Jesus (John 14:1). We trust the Scriptures (Hebrews 4:2). As we do, the words of faith on our lips will attract Kingdom influence, including the help of the angelic resources of heaven!

Ecclesiastes 8:4a Where the word of a king is, there is power...

One kind of faith shown in Scripture emphasizes that Christ inside us (Colossians 1:27) gives us the power-ful latent potential to trust God like Christ did (and does). But another type of faith is present when we choose to personally determine to trust God and His Word, step by step. The first type is complete in its capacity; the second kind can grow as we actively trust God more day by day.

Moving the Kingdom by Expectation We also propel the Kingdom by expectation. Expecta-tion is a strong belief that something will happen. It’s a firm anticipation that a promise will come to pass. Expectation is deeply intertwined with faith and hope. Our life should be glistening with hopefulness. Like faith and hope, expectation involves radical anticipa-tion of blessing. Expectation says, “It’s a comin’!”

Romans 8:15-17 (Message) This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!

The first thing that tries to stand up against our expec-tation is condemnation. Negative judgment against ourselves will unplug our anticipation of blessings ahead. Let’s not allow it!

Let’s stop focusing on the past because that’s not the direction we’re going. Sometimes, we entertain mem-ories that aren’t good. Grace has no memory (of bad things). Look full into the wondrous face of Jesus, and bad memories fade away. Jesus brought grace and truth. Grace is the great equalizer. And it’s the air we should breathe; everything else is polluted. We can coat everything we think, say and do with grace, and then it will be easy to move the Kingdom like Je-sus did.

Moving the Kingdom by Seeking the King We’re moving the Kingdom when we are making the King alive for people. Jesus was God’s rule and reign in sandals. So, everywhere we go, we bring the King! Father God gave him all authority in heaven and earth (Matthew 28:18). And the Lord commissioned his followers to move the Kingdom across the globe (Matthew 28:19-20). Seeking our Lord will draw the Kingdom of God closer to us and repel the kingdom of the enemy. As we acknowledge God’s Kingdom first, the Lord Jesus will direct our way. And under his lordship, we can always say, “It is well with my soul.”

We can walk with radical expectation in the life-changing dominion of Christ’s authority. And we will continue to turn our eyes upon Jesus, the Lord whom Father God set over His Kingdom.

“…all of them break the laws of the Roman Emperor by claiming that someone named Jesus is king.” (Also Acts 17:7, Jeremiah 23:5; 2 Peter 1:11; Ephesians 5:5; Revela-tion 1:9; 17:14; 19:16)

Lordship is Dominion Accepting Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9, 10) is the first step of leaving the rule of one domin-ion and entering a new realm. The Latin word for “lord” is dominus, from which we get do-minion or domain, which express the idea of lordship. For example, freedom is the do-main of the free. Christ’s kingdom is the realm of his lordship. It’s where he has direct guiding influence. When we pronounce Jesus as our Lord, we enter his king-dom, the domain of his supremacy (Colossians 1:18)! In that, we are engulf-ing ourselves in the direct impact of his au-thority and benefits of citizenship!

Philippians 3:20 (NIRV) But we are citizens of heaven. And we can hardly wait for a Savior from there. He is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV) Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Becoming citizens of Christ’s Kingdom is not joining a social club, it’s stepping into the atmosphere of our new Lord’s activated abil-ity. We should expect and call on our King-dom rights in his reign! God and Jesus are Lords, so they reign!

Moving the Kingdom is putting the Lord’s power in motion. It’s giving voice to the will of Christ. Moving the Kingdom is propelling the healing of the Kingdom into someone’s body. It’s activating deliverance from someone’s chains of fear. Moving the King-dom is introducing the Lord’s love into the people and activities of our communities. It’s fearlessly pressing-in with prayer for our neighbors and families.

We don’t just want to be in God’s Kingdom, we want to move His Kingdom! It’s like the kids’ song from the Madagascar movie, “We like to move it, move it…!” Moving the King-dom of God means we promote what God wants. It means we advance His authori-ty. We emphasize His Will. We announce the benefits of allowing Christ to guide people’s lives. We aren’t afraid to engage challenges with Kingdom power. Like young David running fearlessly toward a confrontation with Goliath’s kingdom, ours is a greater spiritual domain than all the other clashing authorities around us.

Ephesians 1:21 (Passion Translation) And now he [Christ] is exalted as first above every rul-er, authority, government, and realm of power in exist-ence! He is gloriously enthroned over every name that is ever praised, not only in this age, but in the age that is coming!

Moving the Kingdom by Faith “The just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17). Faith is how believers live. Faith is trust, confi-

be our Savior, but our salvation would not stand on legal grounds before God.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [That’s what he thought–now look at what he did!] 7But made him-

self of no reputa-tion, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Thirdly, when our salvation was accom-plished, God gave him a name — a name above every name, as a bona fide legal consequence and reward for what he accomplished. If God had not given him what He did, then there would be no point to him inher-iting and making himself a name! God His Father has certified Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and that all those who make him their Lord are saved. His certification is in

the seal with which He seals us, His holy spirit of promise. Jesus Christ received the full fruit of his actions and with the legal sanction and blessing of Almighty God, the Righteous Judge, our salvation and redemption were completed when God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

Because of the accomplishments of Jesus Christ, God is now le-gally able to give all of mankind what He had been yearning to give them from before the foundation of the world – the great liberty of sonship by birth and incorruptible seed, everlasting life! These three categories regarding Christ’s name form the legal ground of our salvation.

Philippians 2:8-11 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 01That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 00And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Three is the number of completeness, and these three aspects of his name show the complete preeminence of the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. He inherited a name. He made himself a name, and God gave him a name above every name. At the name of Jesus every knee bows!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

There are three things we need to understand regarding the name of Jesus. The scriptures say Jesus Christ inherited a name. They also say he made himself a name. Finally, they say God gave or bestowed upon him a name. This will help us understand what we inherit, what is made unto us, and what we are given in the new birth when we were created in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 1:1-5 God, who at sun-dry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 5For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Jesus Christ inherited his name because there were credentials he needed to achieve salvation for us. Not just anyone could have been our Savior. Our Savior needed certain qualifications and credentials which legally gave him the protocol and the legal right to accomplish our salvation for us. He had to be of the tribe of Judah, a son of David and God’s only begotten son (Revelation 5:5). The first prophecy of him referred to him as the seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15).

Secondly, Jesus Christ had to make himself a name. He had to fulfill all the Mosaic law and all the prophesies concerning him-self. He had to live a sinless life and give himself as the perfect sacrifice. In other words, he had to live up to his name. If he had not fulfilled these things, then not only legally could he not

That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s not entertaining the kids to fill time.

Childrens’ Ministry is the sacred process of introducing the kids in our lives to the Lord of their lives. By that, they learn

to be Kids of the Kingdom, as they develop the values, character and joy of Jesus. Ministering among children is uncovering and cultivating gifted ministries. It’s helping Christ to build his Church among its youngest members.

Messengers For Christ is a spiritual training opportunity of Christian Family Fellowship Ministry. It is a commitment to discipline oneself to incorporate prayer and praise, reading God’s Word, speaking God’s Word, deliberate and purposeful giving, and fellowshipping with the saints into one’s lifestyle.

The main thrust of this 100-day Messengers For Christ 6 group is to investigate the Book of Esther with a view to better understand the mighty hand of God. We will see God’s providence as He bares His arm on behalf of His people. Understand-ing how He is always active in the lives of His people, whether they realize it or not, should provide strength and com-fort, as we walk in the steps of Jesus Christ in service to to our God.

The Messenger for Christ 6 Commitment:

I am a Messenger For Christ and I com-mit myself to:

Speak in tongues the first thing in the morning when I arise.

Assemble and maintain a lift list (a prayer list to include the other MFC; to be used dai-ly).

Spend at least 15 minutes in God’s Word reading the Scriptures eve-ry day.

Read and execute the Messengers For Christ Hand-book 6 lesson for the day.

Learn and use retemories (Scripture “retained in the memory”), at least the ten provided.

Greet all the new people you meet with “God bless you” or something like that. (Saying it with friends and family is optional.)

Plan and execute a witnessing adventure of at least an hour each week.

Purpose in my heart (i.e. deliberate and decide) how I want to give each day.

Develop and maintain a regular fellowship schedule for the purpose of teaching, ministering to, and en-couraging the people you meet and talk to during the program. (This does not need to be a formal meeting — just time spent following up with people you have spoken to during the program.)

Develop a habit pattern of meekness to God and His Word.

CHRISTIAN FAMILY FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY

How to Offer Financial Support to CFFM

1) Through our website, www.cffm.org/giving (one-time or recurring gift)

2) By texting a donation amount to (937)-502-2999 (one-time credit card input)

3) By regular mail to CFFM, 1575 W. State Route 571, Tipp City, OH 45371 (check/money order)

4) By CFFM donation envelopes (available from offices above)

Since our beginning in 1996, we regularly hear from people who want to be actively associated with the Christian Family Fellowship in our emphasis on…

JESUS, our focus… by grace, PRAISE, our response… out of thankfulness,

HEALING, our benefit… in faith ...all to the glory of God, our Father!

In this, we grow closer to God, staying Bible-fed and spirit-led. To help us work together, many servant-leaders currently function as CFFM state contacts, state coordinators and zone coordinators. These are not life-long positions, but functioning service opportunities that are evaluated regularly. Check www.cffm.org/our-church to find ministry servant-leaders near you.

Our ministry grows as an organic framework, like the dynamics of a vine and branches (John 15:1-8), rather than the model of a corporate pyramid. Our ministry contacts represent a service network of resource volunteers, many of whom are more geographically accessible to those who need encouragement, advice, event coordination, etc. Each of them believes deeply in what Christian Family Fellowship Ministry (CFFM) represents today and is enthusiastic about God’s direction of our efforts.

Please feel free to contact them or our staff anytime, so that we can support you and your local faith-community in personal growth and in cultivating the life of the Lord Jesus Christ in our world.

“I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.” Philemon 1:6 (NIV)

We’re in this thing together!
