STEWARDSHIP OF TIME

We put God FIRST in our lives by watching Mass every Lord’s Day and spending time in

prayer each day. If we are family, we spend time together as often as possible.

Walking With Hope There is still time to join the walk! It’s a fun way to become or remain physically and spiritually fit during the summer months. The packet can be downloaded on our website (jcpop.org), emailed to you, or picked up in the Parish Office during regular business hours. Call or text Annette Lyons at 563-357-7380 for more information. This is another great way to keep in touch with your parish family during this time of HOPE!

Check It Out! Many of you have taken advantage of the Prince of Peace Masses that have been available online, as well as the Daily Gospel Reflections. If you haven’t, take the time to check out those resources.

A new addition to this line-up is the weekly presenta-tion by Seminarian Isaac Douchette about St. Jo-seph. Each Friday for six weeks a new installment will be added to the parish Facebook page and the parish website about the impact St. Joseph has played in our faith for husbands and fathers, as well as vocations.

Corpus Christi Procession at Prince of Peace Next Sunday (June 14) is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). It is traditionally a time to adore the Blessed Sacrament contained in a special vessel called a monstrance (from which we have the word “demonstrate”). The monstrance has traditionally been carried on Corpus Christi in outdoor processions with a blessing given to those gathered at various places along the way. Since we are still not permitted to gather for Mass, we thought it would be nice to invite everyone to be part of a “car proces-sion” in which you are invited to drive to our church, greet our parish staff, and receive a blessing with the monstrance from Father Ken or Father Stack. We’d like to do this next Sunday afternoon (June 14th) from 2 pm to 3 pm. Simply enter the parking lot from either side and drive to the overhang area of the parish hall. It will only take a brief moment to greet the staff, receive the blessing, and be on your way—all without leaving your car. (You can keep your AC running if it’s hot!) We miss seeing all of you, and we thought this would be a nice way to “connect” with our parishioners. Please join us in this “procession” in honor of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.

O Mary,

you always brighten our path of salvation

and of hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, health of the sick,

who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain

while remaining steadfast in faith.

O loving Mother, you know what we need,

and we are confident you will provide for us

as at Cana in Galilee.

Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician,

for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable,

and for those who have died.

Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and

safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick

and seeking a cure.

Help us, O Mother of Divine Love,

to conform to the will of the Father

and to do as we are told by Jesus,

who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows,

so as to lead us, through the Cross,

to the glory of the Resurrection.

Amen.

Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God.

In our needs, despise not our petitions,

but deliver us always from all dangers,

O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

(Adapted from the prayer of Pope Francis)

A PRAYER FOR PROTECTION

IN TIME OF PANDEMIC

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus,

I believe that you are present

in the most Blessed Sacrament.

I love you above all things

and I desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there,

and unite myself wholly to you.

Never permit me to be separated from you.

Amen.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

PEACE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

June 7, 2020 - The Most Holy Trinity Today we celebrate the feast of the

Most Holy Trinity. The Catechism of

the Catholic Church tells us that the

Holy Trinity is the “central mystery of

the Christian faith” (261). The concept

of the Triune God — Three Persons in

one God — is truly a mystery, almost

too lofty for us ordinary people to even

begin to grasp. Can the truth of the

Holy Trinity teach us anything as eve-

ryday Christian stewards? Actually,

yes!

St. John Paul II described the Holy

Trinity is a “divine family,” a commu-

nity of persons who give themselves

completely to each other and who wish

to share itself and its life with us. These

concepts are at the very heart of the

stewardship way of life. As stewards,

we too, are called to share ourselves

and our lives with others.

Our Gospel passage from John reminds us that the stewardship way of life is nothing

more and nothing less than the imitation of our Most Holy Trinity. “God so loved the

world that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes might not perish but

might have eternal life.” He gave himself, in the person of his son, for love of us. We

must love this God back now by giving ourselves and our lives to him.

Amazingly, the more we give of ourselves to God in love, the more we will find the

“grace of the Lord, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit within us.”

The God of the universe — this mysterious, Triune God — invites us to an ever-

deepening intimacy with him when we make our lives a loving gift to him and to oth-

ers through the stewardship way of life.
