Text with image (Example: PDF document)

• Search/jump only by annoying switch to the content index or to the keyword index possible

• Image/text on different pages requires always to scroll forward/backward

• The text explanation to a picture can be interpreted in different ways (e.g. ambiguous terms/synonyms)

• No workflows visible

• No zoom in and out on image details

• Text block only useful up to 5-7 facts (5 numbers - 7 words / magical number 7)

• No detailed technical drawings with zoom in and out

Video (Example: Usual media player)

• Correct and understandable representation of chronologically staggered technical procedures

• Necessary texts obscure the image or are just visible before or after a scene

• Representation from a 2nd perspective is mostly too small (or is obscuring important details)

• Search for exact or logical picture/frame is difficult

• No zoom in and out on image details

• No detailed technical drawings with zoom in and out

Requirements for information systems

● fastest possible access to all necessary information

● flexible for all different usage requirements

● lowest possible costs for the creation of applications (all platforms)

● best comprehensibility of the available information

● lowest possible costs for content creation

● lowest possible costs for needed user equipment (deployment)

Difficulties with video/media-based manuals

● usually variants for several languages and possibly also for several countries are needed

● up to now, variants have meant high effort and storage space requirements, as new media files are always required

● the number increases quickly to more than 25 media versions

● variants are often required for changes in the series or various product versions

● variants quickly generate more errors and high costs for the creation of each new version

● available anywhere and offline (without / slow / unstable internet)

Innovative Smart Reality technology solve all mentioned problems

● use case related provision (no fact documents)

● available anywhere / offline (also without / slow / unstable internet)

● more customer satisfaction

● higher employee motivation

● effective variant management

● multilingual system

● fastest possible access (even to every detail)

● quickest understanding (without text reading)

● optimal understanding

Smart Reality as app and as video/movie file

SmartReality-App - For the fastest possible online and offline access to all necessary information (e.g. CAD)

Video/movie file - For integration into systems (e.g. internet support portal, ERP, PLM, LMS, E-Learning, ...)

A SmartReality-App still runs on systems these days which are 18 years old (e.g. Windows-XPfrom 2001). This also applies to the video file version.

You can choose one or both versions for the instructions. That means you can meet the actual and future requirements in the online and offline sectors:In both versions, you have the same multi-perspective instruction or learning content with the visual optimal comprehensibility, the always visible logically numbered/up-to-date step/sub-step designations (e.g. highlighted in color) and the necessary text additions.

Multi-perspective representation - examples:

Repair/Maintenance - multi-perspective videos for optimal and immediate understanding

Help/Instruction - display of the operation with simultaneous detail magnification view

Training - user view of the control and simultaneous display of the control effect

Video and animation/CAD view - always access to detailed views in any situation

Minimal layout effort for Smart Reality

Only the definitions of the steps are required for the layout. For example for a manual for brake pad control on the front wheel:

Checking the brake pads on the front wheel (start title)- plus possible warnings as short text

1. Front wheel disassembly (step/search designation)- plus possible short text (in addition to the explanatory video)

2. Brake pad check on the front wheel (step/search designation)- plus possible short text (in addition to the explanatory video)

3. Front wheel mounting (step/search designation)- plus possible short text (in addition to the explanatory video)

Points 1 to 3 are displayed with the corresponding media recordings.

Very low on site recording effort

little space required - direct recording control - thus practically „error-free“

Areas of application for Smart Reality systems

● training

● repair/maintenance workplaces

● assembly/manufacturing workplaces

● education

● technical documentation

● technical hotline

● callcenter for product support for customers

● service employees in field service

● regional representatives, sales partners, dealers

● end customers

● sales (in-house/on the spot)

● fairs/exhibitions
