I. INFORMACION GENERAL DEL CURSO
A. Descripción del curso
Seminario profesional que integra el conocimiento académico, socio humanístico y científico
que los estudiantes han desarrollado durante sus cursos de formación docente. Discusión y
análisis de tendencias, métodos e innovaciones relacionadas con los conocimientos
fundamentales y las competencias de comunicación del futuro maestro en su contexto local y
global, según requiere el estado. Se enfatiza la incorporación de estudios de casos, la
solución de problemas, discusiones temáticas y la aplicación de tecnología.
B. Objetivos generales de contenido
Al finalizar el curso, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Reflexionar sobre la importancia de la educación general como concepto y aplicación en
la vida personal y profesional, incluyendo su autoevaluación como maestro.
2. Examinar los fundamentos teóricos e históricos de las distintas disciplinas dentro de la
educación general y su impacto en la formación integral del educando.
3. Estudiar la importancia de las dimensiones sociales, humanísticas y científicas en la
formación y el desarrollo del magisterio como disciplina.
4. Analizar las tendencias, métodos e innovaciones relacionadas con los conocimientos
fundamentales y las competencias de la comunicación del maestro en su contexto local y
global.
5. Integrar el contenido interdisciplinario en la preparación para el Examen de
Conocimiento General para la Certificación de Maestros de Florida (FTCE-GK, por sus
siglas en ingles).
6. Aplicar las competencias que desarrolló previamente en la resolución de problemas en el
escenario educativo.
C. Objetivos generales de lenguaje
Al finalizar el curso, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Interpretar los conceptos y el material del curso para que los explique clara y
coherentemente.
2. Aplicar correctamente el vocabulario técnico de la disciplina, en español e inglés,
mientras discute y presenta los temas del taller.

3. Demostrar comprensión de las lecturas asignadas de manera que incorpore lo
aprendido a las asignaciones y actividades que realice.
4. Emplear la gramática correctamente y demostrar buenas destrezas de escritura al
redactar ensayos y otros materiales de estudio.

Prerrequisito: Todos los cursos, excepto: EDUC 436-O, EDUC 447-O.
E. Reglas de administración del Curso
Como requisitos específicos del curso, el estudiante:
1. Deberá completar todas y cada una de las actividades descritas en los diferentes talleres para
obtener crédito completo.
2. Deberá familiarizarse con las rúbricas e lenguaje que aparecen en el área de Course Menu en
Blackboard bajo el enlace titulado Appendices: Language Rubrics. Estas rúbricas se utilizan
para evaluar el 30 % del lenguaje en las actividades que se completrán a través del curso.
3. Mantener una asistencia puntual en todos los talleres.
4. Leer cuidadosamente los diferentes requisitos del curso, así como las instrucciones de cada
actividad requerida antes y durante los talleres.
El facilitador es responsable de integrar una revisión de los siguientes temas en cada curso básico y de especialización:
1. Modelo de evaluación de maestros de Marzano
2. El proceso de seis pasos de Marzano para la enseñanza del vocabulario académico y el marco
artístico y científico de Marzano
3. Estándares Estatales o National Common Core State Standards (NCCSS)

El estudiante es responsable de leer cuidadosamente toda la información relacionada con la
experiencia de la escuela clínica y otros requisitos adicionales que forman parte del proceso de
pasantía. Toda la información y los documentos se encuentran en Blackboard bajo la sección
Apéndice del Manual de Prácticas Educativas y de acuerdo con su estado de residencia. El
estudiante es responsable de completar todos los formularios, según corresponda

F. Evaluación La calificación final está basada en la acumulación de puntos por taller (30 % para idioma y 70 % para
conocimientos en la disciplina). Calcule la calificación final basada en los criterios que aparecen al lado
izquierdo de la tabla (la calificación final representa 50 % para el idioma español y 50 % para el idioma inglés).

basado en el requisito del 30 % en actividades de idioma y el 70 % en actividades de contenido. Las
actividades tienen que estar a la altura del nivel universitario, en ambos idiomas, para fomentar el desarrollo de
profesionales bilingües. La calificación final del curso reflejará 50 % en las actividades del idioma inglés y 50

II. GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
A. Course Description
This course is a professional seminar blending socio-humanistic and scientific academic
knowledge that students have developed during their teacher preparation courses. It includes
discussion and analysis of trends, methods, and innovations related to fundamental knowledge
and communication competencies of the future teacher in his/her local and global context, as
required in the state. Emphasis is given to case studies, problem solving, discussion of topics,
and application of technology are incorporated.
B. Content Objectives
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
1. Reflect on the importance of general education as a concept and application in the
student’s personal and professional life, including the process of self-evaluation as an
educator.
2. Examine the theoretical and historical foundation of the different disciplines in
education and its impact upon the integral formation of the student.
3. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of the social-humanistic and scientific
formation and development of education as a discipline.
4. Analyze the tendencies, methods, and innovations related to the fundamental
knowledge and competencies of the teacher’s communication in a local and global
context.
5. Integrate interdisciplinary content in preparing for the Florida Teacher Certification.
6. Apply the competencies previously developed to solve different issues in the
educational scene.

C. Language Objectives
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to:
1. Interpret the course concepts and materials in order to explain them in a clear and
coherent manner.
2. Correctly apply the Core Course Terminology, both in English and Spanish, when
discussing and presenting the topics of the workshops.
3. Demonstrate comprehension of the assigned readings by incorporating new knowledge
in the completion of assignments and activities.
4. Demonstrate correct grammar and effective writing skills when composing essays and
other writings.

5. Prerequisites: All courses except: EDUC 436-O, EDUC 447-O.
E. Course Management Rules
The student will comply with the following specific requirements:
1. Complete all the described activities in the different workshops to obtain complete
credit.
2. You should familiarize with the language rubrics that appear in the Course Menu area
in Blackboard under the link titled Appendices: Language Rubrics. These rubrics are
used to evaluate the 30% of the language activities completed through the course.

3. Maintain a consistent attendance in all workshops.
4. Read the different course requirements, as well as the instructions for all the required
activities before and during the workshops.
The facilitator is responsible for integrating a review of the following topics in every core
and specialization course:
1. Marzano’s Teacher Evaluation Model
2. Marzano’s Six-Step Process for Teaching Academic Vocabulary and the Marzano Art
and Science of Teaching Framework
3. National Common Core State Standards (NCCSS) or state standards
4. State reading requirements
5. Requirements for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and requirements
for bilingual education
6. Teacher certification state exams of student’s state of residence
7. Integration of technology in the classroom
The student is responsible for carefully reading all the information related to the clinical
school experience and other additional requirements that are part of the internship process.
All information and documents are found in Blackboard under the Appendix Section of the
Education Internship Handbook, and in accordance with your state of residence. The student
is responsible for completing all forms, as applicable.

F. Assessment
The final grade is based on the total points by workshop (30% for languages and 70% for the content
area.) Average the final grade based on the criteria that appears to the left in the chart (the final grade
represents 50% for the Spanish language and 50% for the English language.)

TALLER UNO
A. Objetivos de Contenido
Durante el taller, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Identificar los métodos y las estrategias que se utilizan para facilitar la compresión de
la lectura.
2. Reconocer el material introductorio de la Prueba de Conocimiento General para la
Certificación de Maestros de Florida (FTCE-GK, por sus siglas en ingles).
3. Integrar el contenido de diversas lecturas y temas como preparación para tomar la
prueba de certificación de maestros.
4. Repasar la técnica de adivinación como estrategia al contestar los ejercicios del FTCE-
GK.
5. Distinguir las técnicas efectivas para manejar el tiempo al tomar el FTCE-GK.
B. Objetivos de Lenguaje
Durante el taller, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Participar en discusiones de grupo y evidenciar que comprende los métodos y las
estrategias que se utilizan para facilitar la comprensión de la lectura.
2. Manejar eficazmente el idioma al discutir la técnica de adivinación como estrategia al
contestar las preguntas presentadas en los exámenes del FTCE-GK.
3. Analizar la literatura para distinguir cómo se integra el contenido de diversas lecturas
y temas como preparación para tomar la prueba de certificación de maestros.
4. Emplear correctamente la gramática y ortografía al responder a las preguntas del foro
de discusión escrita sobre una ventaja de la técnica de adivinación de respuestas.

D. Instrucciones Importantes Para El/La Estudiante:
1. Lea cuidadosamente el módulo y sus apéndices, a fin de familiarizarse con el contenido.
Verifique que tenga acceso a las cuentas de SUAGM, incluyendo el E-Lab, correo electrónico
y la plataforma de Blackboard. Si necesita ayuda para manejar las cuentas mencionadas,
comuníquese con el Help Desk.
2. Antes del Taller Uno, el facilitador publicará anuncios sobre fechas importantes y otra
información del curso en Blackboard. Además, compartirá recordatorios sobre las
asignaciones, los proyectos, actividades y la importancia de completar los ejercicios del
Laboratorio de Idiomas/E-Lab durante el curso. Lea esta información con frecuencia a lo
largo del curso.
3. Durante el Taller Uno, el facilitador explicará el Digital Performance Portfolio Assessment
Handbook que se encuentra en Blackboard. Dicho documento contiene instrucciones
detalladas para completar el portafolio digital eficazmente. Familiarícese con dicho manual.
4. Durante el Taller Uno, el facilitador explicará el Education Internship Handbook que se
encuentra disponible en Blackboard. Dicho documento contiene instrucciones detalladas sobre
el proceso de práctica docente y los formularios necesarios para completar dicho trámite
eficazmente.

Utilice la herramienta NetTutor para revisar sus trabajos escritos, antes de enviarlos al
facilitador. Dicho recurso revisa los principios de redacción y la gramática de lo que usted
escribe y le ofrece retroalimentación.
5. El facilitador enviará los trabajos escritos a SafeAssignTM para detectar casos de plagio.
Limite el uso de información copiada directamente de la Internet, utilice el estilo APA
mencione las referencias.
6. El estudiante puede enviar una asignación a través de SafeAssignTM, si el facilitador la
configura previamente.
7. Si tiene preguntas sobre las asignaciones, actividades o el contenido, aclárelas con el
facilitador por medio del E-mail.
8. Es muy importante que entienda la importancia de dominar los temas de aprendizaje. Es
necesario que consulte continuamente diccionarios y otros recursos de apoyo. El dominio
pleno de los conocimientos adquiridos en cada taller es necesario para las clases
subsiguientes. De esta manera, el estudiante seguirá puliendo el proceso de aprendizaje.
9. Procure prestar atención a las actividades de lenguaje. Recuerde que el 30 % de su
calificación semanal y final depende de las competencias lingüísticas que demuestre en inglés
y español (según el idioma del taller) y 70 % de la calificación semanal y final recae en el
dominio del contenido del curso.

E. Actividades antes del taller
1. Es muy importante que se familiarice con el Education Internship Handbook, que se
encuentra en Blackboard, y anote cualquier pregunta que tenga. El facilitador contestará sus
dudas en el primer taller.
2. Comience el glosario del curso con los conceptos detallados en la sección Vocabulario técnico
de la disciplina; siga las instrucciones del facilitador.
3. Utilice la Biblioteca Virtual, el Internet y otros recursos académicos del E-Lab, como libros
electrónicos, para investigar sobre los métodos y las estrategias que se utilizan para facilitar la
comprensión de diversas lecturas y temas, como preparación para tomar la prueba de
certificación de maestros; el material introductorio del FTCE-GK; la técnica de adivinación
como estrategia al contestar las preguntas presentadas en el FTCE-GK; y las técnicas efectivas
para manejar el tiempo durante exámenes de certificación. Prepare un resumen o un bosquejo,
del material que lea, y llévelo a clases para contribuir a la discusión del material y aclarar
dudas.
4. Utilizando la página Web del FTCE-GK, el libro de texto y otros recursos del taller, prepare
un organizador gráfico en el que ilustre los aspectos más importantes del FTCE-GK.
Aproveche el ejercicio y anote sus preguntas; recuerde que después del Taller Uno debe ser
capaz de comprender lo que se espera de usted respecto a dicho examen. El facilitador
determinará el tipo de organizador gráfico; entre ellos están el diagrama de Venn, tabla en
forma de T, flujograma, diagrama de árbol, cronología y otros. Prepárese para participar en
una actividad colaborativa en clase.
5. Foro de Discusión
El profesor colocará las siguientes preguntas en el foro de discusión de la clase en
Blackboard:
a. Explique por lo menos una ventaja de la técnica de adivinación de respuestas.

b. Basado en lo leído, acerca de la técnica de adivinación de respuestas, señale si piensa
aplicarla y cómo le sacará el máximo al tomar el examen del FTCE. Reaccionarán a
los comentarios de por lo menos tres compañeros.
Recuerde que, para obtener crédito completo por la pregunta de discusión, su contestación
debe cumplir con los siguientes criterios:
a. Mencionar y/o hacer referencia a por lo menos, 2 temas de las lecturas asignadas del
taller.
b. Establecer la conexión entre el conocimiento previo a cerca del tema.
c. Establecer la conexión entre el conocimiento adquirido a través de las lecturas y sus
experiencias personales y/o profesionales.
d. Discutir y/o establecer su argumento o punto de vista dentro del nivel académico
esperado, no simplemente recitando hechos que el o los autores están ofreciendo.
e. La extensión de la contestación debe contar con un mínimo de 150 palabras.
f. Reaccionar en forma SUSTANTIVA a la contestación de por lo menos 2 de sus
compañeros de clase. Cuando hablamos en forma sustantiva nos referimos a
profundizar en el tópico y los puntos de vista ofrecidos por sus compañeros y no
simplemente frases como “estoy de acuerdo contigo” o “muy buena contestación”.
6. Familiarícese con los requisitos, procesos y técnicas necesarias para aprobar el examen de
Conocimiento General de la Prueba de Certificacion Para Maestros de Florida (FTCE-GK).
7. Luego de tomar la prueba diagnóstica, vaya a Rosetta Stone Advantage y comience a trabajar
los ejercicios que se han diseñado para desarrollar sus destrezas lingüísticas en español.
8. Empiece a preparar el portafolio digital; siga las instrucciones estipuladas en el Digital
Performance Portfolio Assessment Handbook que se encuentra en Blackboard.

F. Actividades de aplicación durante el Taller 1. El facilitador diseñará una actividad grupal con el fin de conocer a todos los estudiantes.
2. Proveerá a los estudiantes su información de contacto, y procederá a elegir al estudiante
que representará a sus compañeros durante el resto del PT.
3. Utilizando la información pertinente a los métodos de evaluación del curso, el facilitador
en conjunto con los estudiantes, determinará las fechas en las que se administrarán los
exámenes parciales relacionados al contenido del FTCE-GK. Los estudiantes son
responsables de cumplir con las estipulaciones del facilitador.
4. El facilitador explicará detenidamente los requisitos del curso, se asegurará de que los
estudiantes entiendan las expectativas del mismo y sepan cómo se va a llevar a cabo el
proceso de evaluación del desempeño académico. De igual forma proveerá información
sobre los siguientes recursos y/o herramientas académicas:
a. Laboratorio de Idiomas E-Lab.
b. Plataforma Académica de Blackboard.
c. Manual de Internado de Educación (Educational Internship Handbook).
d. Manual de Evaluacion del Portafolios Digital (Digital Performance Portfolio
Assessment Hanbook).
e. Study.com
f. Libro de Texto.
5. El facilitador discutirá el uso del Plan de Estudio que los estudiantes van a utilizar para
repasar las diferentes destrezas a ser evaluadas en los cuatro componentes (escritura, artes
del lenguaje, matemáticas y lectura) del FTCE-GK. Esto es muy importante, ya que
servirá como una de las herramientas principales de repaso para el examen.

6. Mediante el uso de una actividad constructivista, el facilitador repasará las diferentes
asignaciones del taller que los estudiantes completaron previo al taller.
7. El facilitador llevará a cabo una demostración de la página web dedicada al examen del
FTCE. Esta actividad es muy importante, ya que permitirá a los estudiantes, entender los
diferentes requisitos de la batería de exámenes y que se espera de ellos respecto al examen
de certificación magisterial y del curso. De igual forma, ayudará a los estudiantes en la
creación de su cuenta en el sitio web del FTCE. Esto les permitirá registrarse para tomar
los exámenes y poder tener acceso a los resultados de los mismos.
8. Finalmente, el facilitador mencionará y podrá aclarar dudas con respecto a las tareas que
los estudiantes realizarán antes del taller dos.

WORKSHOP TWO
A. Content Objectives
During the workshop, the student will be able to
1. Demonstrate knowledge of written language skills related to the use of Standard English.
2. Analyze the results of the of the English Language Skills diagnostic test related to the
Florida Teaching Certification Exam-General Knowledge Test (FTCE-GKT).

5. Workshop Electronic Glossary
• Start working on the creation of the electronic glossary, using the terminology
included in the section titled Core Course Terminology.
• The glossary must be created in a presentation format using the Microsoft
PowerPoint application or Microsoft Sway.
• Each slide must include a vocabulary word to be used during the workshop and its
definition.
• You will include a picture that will be able to define the concept in a graphical
way.
6. Once completed, it should be sent through Black Board in the area determined by the
facilitator.
7. The facilitator will create a written discussion forum using the Discussion Board tool in
Blackboard. Students will answer the following questions, providing the rationale for their
response:
a. Should you guess on the test?
b. Can the test questions be answered in any order?
c. Are there trick questions on the test?
d. Are there answer patterns on the test?

8. Students will react to the responses of at least three colleagues.
9. Continue working on the organization and completion of the digital portfolio following the
guidelines stipulated in the Digital Performance Portfolio Assessment Handbook.
10. Go to Rosetta Stone Advantage and continue working on the interactive exercises designed
to develop/improve linguistic skills in English. Submit the Language Lab/E-Lab
Documentation indicating the amount of time spent working on these activities.
11. Continue studying the competencies for the FTCE-GK Mathematics test that will be
assessed in class.
E. Application Activities During the Workshop 1. The facilitator will lead the class in a review of the topics covered in the previous workshop to
ensure students’ comprehension.
2. The facilitator will prepare a constructivist activity to review the assignments completed by the
students prior to the workshop and to ensure students’ comprehension. All the reading and writing
activities must be linked to the Core Course Terminology of the workshop.
3. During the first hour of the workshop, the facilitator will administer a diagnostic test based
on the competencies for the Mathematics component of the FTCE-GK test. The diagnostic
test must be timed, since the real assessment is a standardized timed assessment. To
clarify questions or concerns about the construction of the diagnostic test, the facilitator
can access the different written and online resources available. It is recommended to test
the students with no more than 20 multiple-choice questions.
4. After the diagnostic test administration, the facilitator will grade the test with the students
and will create an activity where the students will discuss their strong and weak skills
related to the reading component. Then, they will start preparing their personalized study

plan, based on the results of the diagnostic test to start their individual reviews. The
facilitator will provide feedback and more details regarding the completion and
submission of this assignment.
5. The facilitator could provide individual feedback if necessary, considering the individual
needs of the students.
6. The facilitator will offer a broad review of topics related to numbers, quantity, algebra,
and functions including, among others, the following:
a. ratios
b. proportional relationships
c. the real number system
d. seeing structure in expressions
e. reasoning with equations and inequalities
f. functions.
7. The facilitator will explain the use of the calculator which will be available to students
during the test.
8. The facilitator will administer a timed FTCE-GK quiz to assess math competencies.
9. Finally, the facilitator will mention and clarify assignments to be completed prior to the
next workshop.

desarrollar sus destrezas lingüísticas en español.

E. Actividades de aplicación durante el taller 1. El facilitador repasará los temas que se cubrieron en el taller anterior para asegurarse de
que los alumnos comprendan el material.
2. El facilitador preparará una actividad constructivista para repasar las asignaciones que
los estudiantes completaron antes del taller y para comprobar que entendieron el
material. Habrá oportunidad para aclarar dudas. Todas las actividades de lectura y
escritura tienen que estar relacionadas con el vocabulario técnico de la disciplina.
3. Reunidos en parejas, los alumnos compararán los organizadores gráficos sobre los
métodos y las estrategias que facilitan la comprensión de las competencias matemáticas
como preparación para tomar el examen FTCE-GK. Finalmente, los conciliarán en uno
solo, de manera que presenten sus conclusiones a la clase.
4. Los estudiantes discutirán sobre los ejemplos de tipos de preguntas de matemáticas que
compartieron en el foro de discusión escrita. Explicarán sus ejemplos y el facilitador
cubrirá los tipos de preguntas que no fueron mencionadas por los alumnos.
5. Reunidos en mesa redonda, los estudiantes compartirán y explicarán ejemplos de
ejercicios que ilustren cómo se evalúan las competencias matemáticas en el FTCE-GK.

Aprovecharán la ocasión no solo para practicarlos, sino para aclarar las dudas y
fortalecer sus competencias matemáticas para aprobar el FTCE-GK.
6. Los estudiantes compartirán los materiales de los cursos de matemática básica que
tomaron en clases anteriores, tales como libros de texto, libretas y apuntes. El
facilitador repasará el material de acuerdo con las siguientes competencias: geometría,
estadística y probabilidad.
7. El facilitador presentará un repaso abarcador en el que se examinen ejemplos de
ejercicios que cubran las competencias matemáticas que evalúa el FTCE-GK,
específicamente aquellos relacionados con las técnicas para contestar rápidamente
ejercicios de selección múltiple. A continuación, se presentan los temas, entre otros,
que repasarán:
a. congruencia y similitud
b. triángulos rectos
c. círculos
d. medida y dimensión geométrica
e. estadística básica
f. probabilidad
g. interpretación de data categórica y cuantitativa

8. Los alumnos realizarán ejercicios de práctica de matemáticas en español, provistos por

structures. Take notes that will be helpful in writing the argumentative essay.
3. The facilitator will create a written discussion forum using the Discussion Board tool in

a. What is the thesis in an argumentative essay?
b. What are the supporting reasons to develop the ideas presented in the thesis?
Students will react to the comments of at least three colleagues.
4. Using the information learned in Workshop Three on essay writing, compose an
argumentative essay to support a claim using evidence, in a clear and coherent manner and
according to the writing principles. Upload the essay in a timely manner to the assignment
area in Blackboard, previously created by the facilitator, thus allowing the facilitator to
provide one-on-one feedback to each student. A class discussion will follow.
5. Finalize the organization and completion of the digital portfolio following the guidelines
stipulated in the Digital Performance Portfolio Assessment Handbook. Follow the
facilitator’s instructions regarding the submission of the portfolio.
6. Go to Rosetta Stone Advantage and complete the interactive exercises designed to
develop/improve linguistic skills in English and Spanish. Submit the document found in
Appendix E: Language Lab/E-Lab Documentation indicating the amount of time spent
working on the Language Lab/E-Lab activities and exercises.
