SHOW AND SPREAD THE

FOLKLORE OF CAJAMARCA.

Our Folklore is the result of cultural mixing between the pre-Inca and Inca culture

and the Spanish legacy, in Peru there is a huge range of folk expressions according to

geographical area, so we have the Andean folklore, spread in the villages of the

Sierra region, the Amazonic floklore, developed throughout our Amazon, and Creole,

primarily set on the coast and with direct influence of Hispanishness.

In the NGO Asikuq Antinakuna, we are constantly working to make our folk legacy is

not lost, because many of these expressions are being distorted, and in some cases

are being disappearing; such is the case of our famous "Carnaval Cajamarquino", where

each year new artistic and rhythmic expressions transform its essence. In this sense,

our human group is committed to strengthening and safeguarding cultural identity in

WORK'S QUARTERLY REPORT

N° 2 / APRIL-MAY-JUNE - 2016

Page 2: SHOW AND SPREAD THE FOLKLORE OF CAJAMARCA. · 2018. 8. 28. · FOLKLORE OF CAJAMARCA. Our Folklore is the result of cultural mixing between the pre-Inca and Inca culture and the Spanish

this area, through the appreciation and dissemination of our region's own cultural

expressions, such as dances from the different provinces: “Chunchos de Porcón”, "La

Guayabina" (Celendín), “Los Emplumados”,“Los Diablos de Cajabamba” (Cajabamba),

"Carnaval de Cajamarca" , "La Cashua Cajamarquina", “Las Pallas de Baños del Inca”,

etc.

We have the firm conviction that cultural expressions of a people, such as dance,

music, instruments, holidays, language, etc. They are the foundation of its identity,

and an people with identity can shape their own development, is therefore that under

no circumstances these expressions should disappear.

WHAT ARE WE PROPOSING?

DANCE WORKSHOPS.

This project is the starting point to face short-term needs, which seeks to

reconfigure the cultural identity of Cajamarca and lay the foundation for

supporting social projection of folklore in Cajamarca.

We have achieved:

(i) Spread through dance, cultural expressions in children, youth,

adults and seniors, thus strengthening their physical and

psychological development.

(ii) Implement creative teaching methodology, in an atmosphere of

respect and friendship, which conveys the value of our folklore to

each of its participants.

The NGO Asikuq Antinakuna has implemented an alternative to revalue and transmit the

artistic and cultural expressions from Cajamarca. Stimulating sensitivity , creative action and

cultivating human values, in order to the dances are the link between body expression and

integral development of individuals as a form of communication.

FIRST WORKSHOP OF DANCES IN THE GARDEN No. 017 for students AND TEACHERS:

In this wonderful garden, the workshop promoted the spread of one of the most

representative dances of the city of Cajamarca , "CARNAVAL CAJAMARCA", this

picturesque show, was represented by childrens of the Kindergarten No. 17, forty-second

anniversary of the institution, thereby seeking to revalue and spread the cultural identity

of Cajamarca, also strengthening the development of social skills, motor skills and

improving interpersonal relationships of children.

Our volunteers also supported the teachers to prepare the presentation of a number of

dances based on rhythms of Afro-fusion, known as "Festejo" (representative dance of

the descendants from the african culture on the Peruvian coast). All these activities

served as a lot of learning and motivation for us to continue developing and expanding

this initiative. We thank the Director of the institution teacher Nancy Ortiz Cabanillas who gave us the opportunity to collaborate with the workshop. Thank you very much to all!!
