The historically rich district of Bidar, the erstwhile capital of the mighty Bahmani Kingdom was also a center of learning for two centuries catering students from across the globe at Madrasa of Mahmud Gawan setup in 1472. Those were the days when Bidar was at the pinnacle of glory with recognition as a great seat of learning. Today we have taken it upon ourselves to reclaim the status of Bidar as one of the finest destinations for aspirants aiming for the world-class learning experience.

It all started when I was looking for a quality education hub for my younger sibling Abdul Hannan; my search was a futile exercise as I could not find a single standard academic institution in and around Bidar. That was the turning point that motivated me to give up my flourishing career as an engineer in the Gulf and turn into an academic entrepreneur. Modest resources, a mountain of faith on Allah and a strong vision to shape a world-class academic hub offering top-notch facilities were my only capital. Today all of us feel vindicated looking at this magnificent Shaheen family which is rich in knowledge wealth and constantly espouses the philosophy of Allama Iqbal.

"Shaheen Kidz" provides a rich, progressive and value-integrated early education for children between the ages of three to six years. Our vision is to develop joyful, versatile, emotionally-intelligent children with a desire for learning and completely prepared for the next stage of their education. Our value-based curriculum underpins the "Shaheen Kidz" ethos - to actively promote ideals and values such as compassion, commitment, cooperation, caring, hope, honesty, love, respect, tolerance, gratitude and dedication. Shaheen initiated a pilot project called as the 'Academic Intensive Care Unit (AICU)' aimed at bringing the drop-outs and Madrasa students into the mainstream educational system. This has turned into a fruitful venture. The project started in 2003 by helping school dropouts and Madrasa Students between the ages of 10-18 to appear in the Class 10th, 12th examination along with NEET and other professional examinations after intensive training. AICU has a composite curriculum from class 5th to 12th. Continuous and comprehensive evaluation methods are refined constantly and employed in the AICU. Students are tested at regular intervals right from the outset. The assessment is aimed at diagnosing the problem areas in the child's development and not merely the academic performance. Nearly 500 dropouts and Madrasa students are admitted annually in AICU. Alumni of Shaheen AICU are now pursuing education in esteemed institutions such as Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University. The success story of the AICU project is an inspiring one.

SHAHEEN SCHOLAR GROUP EXAM

Shaheen Scholar Group Exam is a social initiative by the Shaheen Group of Institutions to select 600 deserving meritorious students throughout India and to provide them with intensive coaching, with hostel facilities, in order to guide

them towards achieving excellence in professional education courses. SGOI conducts talent hunt examination every year for students of 10th grade in different states across the nation. These exams are conducted across 15 states and with over 150 centres.

SEF TEACHER TRAINING ACADEMY

SEF Teacher Training Academy is an offshoot of the Shaheen Education Foundation. It aims to impart quality training to teachers who can then significantly contribute towards improving the pedagogical system. The training advances the teacher's knowledge and the skills to eventually impart a value-integrated system of education to the students. This potential-based teaching approach is combined with an ample knowledge of myriad education techniques, psychology, and training which enhance the teacher's skills, enabling them to become accomplished mentors. The course covers techniques for providing a more effective learning environment including classroom management, modules of value-integration, techniques to help slow learners, developing successful and effective lesson plans. The training programme is open for all, including mothers. In-service teachers can also join to enhance their skills. The six-month course is offered both online and offline.
