If Today is The Dayfind me ready.

In College, not too long ago, I had the privilege of learning under a very intelligent, wise, and spiritually tuned professor. Seldom did I think of the finality of earthly life, and the bigger perspective of eternity, until I heard this professor utter these words in his prayers. They would haunt me, in a peaceful comforting way. Those words were like, a father anticipating the opportunity to teach his son a life lesson. As my wife and I finish off the year, we find ourselves prepared for what is ahead. Even though what is ‘ahead’ isn’t like something huge, such as ending world poverty or anything. We feel as though this year had prepared us mentally and has pushed us spiritually to go deeper into the realities of Life. What does that even mean? The realities of Life?

Realities of life, like, beginning to grasp the understanding of career rather than job. Focusing on discernment . Living a life of self actualization and selfless giving. Daily praying away the darkness that battles with the heart.

A very close friend of mine was walking with me and some friends. It was the night before his wedding. I, feeling like a second grader giving a first grader some tips on how to pass first grade, leaned in and said to my friend “ One thing I’ve learned thus far is never to fall asleep with a bitter spirit.”

As I said these words, my heart choked as I realized, “How many nights have I slipped into dreaming without searching the peace of my creator, without praising his glory and blessings. Falling asleep without falling in love with His Grace first.

If Today is the Day, find me ready. If this is it Lord, if today you return, find me ready. If today is the day my expiration date is up, find me ready. If today is the day for me to display your Love, your Grace, your teachings, your presence, Let me be your ambassador, Find me Ready.
