Call for Papers Josef Korbel Journal of Advanced International Studies
Graduate Student Research Journal The Josef Korbel Journal of Advanced International Studies (JAIS) is an online journal
published by the Ph.D. program at the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School of Interna-
tional Studies. It showcases the rigorous, original, scholarly research of graduate students in
the fields of political science and international studies. Articles can be submitted for jour-
nal publication. JAIS is refereed by Ph.D. students from the University of Denver as well as
from other domestic and international departments.
We welcome submissions from the main subfields of international studies:

· International Political Economy

Tucson Member of the State Legislature Rep. Victoria Steele visits the UA
Arizona State Representative Victoria Steele, who currently represents Legislative District 9 in the State House, will be visiting the University of Ari-zona Young Democrats Club.
Rep. Steele will be discussing legislation that she has proposed in her first term in office and current legislation pending in the State House. The Young Democrat’s meeting, at which she will be the guest
speaker, will be Thursday, April 4th, at 6:30 PM in Social Sciences Room 114. Membership in the club or in the Democratic Party are not required to attend the event. Become a Recycling Ambassador for Greening the Game!
For Fall 2013

Interviews will be held Monday April 15th to Thursday April 25th.
Greening the Game is an initiative run through Students for Sustainability, an ASUA program. The goal of this program are to reach out to fans and educate them during tailgating and to clean the stadiums after the game. This is a fun and a hands on job that will teach students about how to be educational leaders and in-
form them about sustainable initiatives on the UA Campus.

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for progres-sive organizations across the country. We run campaigns for the Human Rights Cam-paign, USPIRG, and Environment America. This summer we will be in over 50 cities,
working and lobbying to help win environmental and social justice campaigns.
Last summer our staff helped ban off-shore drilling to protect our coasts, repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and increase food safety standards to make school lunches safer- all
while building valuable leadership skills.
Currently, we have paid positions open on our campaign staff in each of our locations. We require that interested candidates are hard workers and have excellent communication skills.
As a member of our staff, you will fundraise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and acti-vate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations. While on staff, you gain knowledge of pressing concerns our
country is facing, learn how to effectively generate public support, and obtain a firm understanding of the po-litical process.
We will be holding information sessions and interviews at University of Arizona on April 2nd, 3rd, and
4th at 10am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm each day.

The Student Health Advocacy Committee's 7th annual 5K Run for Your Life at the University of Arizona is quickly approaching. On Saturday April 6th, in addition to running for a great cause, there will be free t-shirts and food, music and tons of cool prizes!

This course provides an introduction for non-majors to the history and aesthetics of film. We will examine the technology of the moving image, analyze the visual aesthetic of successive periods and styles of filmmak-ing, and chart the development of visual narrative forms and genres in selected examples from the history of film.

The Arizona Office of the Auditor General will be on campus conducting
interviews in Career Services for a Performance Auditor I on Thursday,
April 11, from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
The mission of the Office of the Auditor General is to improve state and
local government operations and accountability by independently provid-
ing the Legislature, government decision-makers, and the public with
timely, accurate, and impartial information; relevant recommendations;
and technical assistance. Performance Auditor I’s assist in conducting performance audits of state agencies
and programs. They gather information, identify areas of inquiry, obtain evidence, prepare well-documented
work papers, and formulate findings and recommendations in compliance with government auditing stan-
dards.

New Era Colorado, is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to engage young peo-ple in the political process through civic engagement, advocacy, and leadership development. New Era is an innovative vehicle for hands-on democracy working to empower our generation.
This summer, New Era is offering a fulltime summer fellowship program in Denver to train the next generation of young leaders to create change in their communities. The Democracy Fellows will learn to lead, organize, and advocate for the issues they are passionate about, and can receive need-based stipends for their participation. They'll learn from the best in their fields in Colorado how to write field plans, craft a media strategy, build relationships with volunteers, and more.

FEDERAL RELATIONS DC INTERN SCHOLARSHIP Members of Congress have small staffs and tremendous workloads, so interns play a vital role. Duties
vary, but generally, interns will learn how the legislative branch of government works, develop knowledge of
resources available to assist constituents, gather information from various federal agencies, and attend meet-
ings on behalf of the Member. As a result, internships in Washington DC are an invaluable experience for
college students, and many current congressional staff members began their careers as interns.
Internships in Washington DC, (as opposed to in-district internships), can be particularly challenging
for students due to cost. While you would be receiving college credit and a wealth of experience for your
work, you are not generally compensated financially. Because of the important role you play in our Arizona
congressional offices, the UA Office of Federal Relations is pleased to offer a scholarship to help cover the
costs of your time in Washington. Award of this scholarship is competitive and based on both merit and fi-
nancial need, with a required minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship will allow $500/mo for living ex-
penses, plus a tuition award. The tuition award covers mandatory fees, but not optional personal fees such
as Honors fees, Engineering fees, class fees, etc. This scholarship is intended as a one semester opportunity
for undergraduates, but graduate student applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Renewals
may be considered only if academic credit and necessary degree progression can be demonstrated well prior
to the second term.
To apply for this scholarship, please send to the Office of Federal Relations at least thirty days prior to the
start of the semester:
Your Name, Contact Information, including in DC (if you have it) and Student ID #;
Record of approval for twelve units of academic credit for the internship and Department point of contact for
independent confirmation;
A listing of any financial aid which you are receiving/have applied;
A two-page written statement of interest and merit; and
An offer letter from the relevant Congressional office.
Scholarships are subject to approval by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and the student’s college
or department.
