International Congress 2013, EgyptI was extremely privileged to attend the annual AIESEC International Congress in August this year. This historical event was in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. It was first a bit of a risk to decide to attend this event given the occurrences in Cairo in the recent past regarding the revolution. However, enough assurance from the embassy and the Congress Committee made me decide to go. The congress was generally a huge success and I feel very lucky to have been there. It was an amazing experience being in a space where I was surrounded by leaders from over 124 countries and territories. There were more than 700 delegates present at the International Congress with a representation from all the different regions. The energy during the entire ten days was tremendous and delegates had immense eagerness to learn and make new friends. The most amazing thing for me was the way in which all 700 of us are from different realities but we all have one cause that we are working towards.

Our vision connects us as an entity and that is why we were able to all gather in one space and discuss on why we can make the world more habitable. The three most important things for me and the rest of the Kenyan delegation were: #Talent capacity- we should maximize on our talent capacity and ensure that we utilize them to avoid having so many people with poor quality experiences. #Our shared vision- we are all working towards achieving a BIG AIESEC with numbers that will ensure that we grow like never before. Having the entire entity working towards achieving the same thing is very encouraging and motivating. #Customer Experience Management- This is about how we manage the experiences of our customers. We will have faster, easier and focused processes that will ensure that we give our stakeholders quality and that we deliver our promise. Basically the whole experience was breathtaking and cannot be easily told unless it is lived. My challenge to you all will be to ensure that you attend at least one International Congress in your lifetime. I know I will be in Taiwan for the next IC in August 2014, where will you be?

TALENT MANAGEMENT

Election Conference As the 2013 EB team takes its final lap, we planned for election conference on 27th September to 29th September. The venue was Cool Rivers Hotel in Nakuru, and this year we joined together with AIESEC JKUAT to plan the conference, as they were holding their elections too.

The Organising Committee included:

OCP-Sylvia MuhoroOCVP Communications-Sandra KembabaziOCVP CR-Diane Nthurima (USIU) and John Mulatya (JKUAT) OCVP F&A-Charles MutukuOCVP Sites and Logistics-Stephanie Munyoki (USIU) and Richard (JKUAT)

The combined effort came about in line with regional cooperation; therefore both our campuses on the Thika Road Region decided to work together for the purpose of electing our new leaders. The chairs of the conference were: Pheodor Brown Njoroge (Former AIESEC USIU VP TM and Alumnus) and Munyi (Former AIESEC JKUAT LCP and Alumnus).

INCOMING EXCHANGE PORTFOLIO

In our last quarter we had 9 interns it being realized with this period being the continuation of Summer Peak.AIESEC KENYA also embarked on restructuring our team structures for iGCDP to make processes quicker and more efficient. Issue based segmentation of TNs was also introduced and we implemented it in our LC. Our most favourable endeavours according to our current type of TN takers are Literacy, Health and Community Empowerment. Education TNs have surely proven to be our strongest point for a very long time now. We however need to widen our TN pool so as to attract a larger variety of EPs.We have also been planning for the Kuleana Festival scheduled to take place in December in USIU so as to be able to promote our Thika road region very well too to prospective EPs.

7

To also ensure that we promote our region better, we would like to get members who would be interested in teaching interns Kiswahili for 6 weeks. The IGCDP portfolio would also very much appreciate having members sign up to host an intern during this year’s winter peak. Hosting an intern is an awesome experience!!! This far we have come we foresee greater things ahead.

CORPORATE RELATIONS Hey AIESEC! I hope you are all doing fantastic! The Corporate Relations portfolio in USIU has been on a low-lying moment compared to the rest of the portfolios, but that is about to change! Since any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts. Here is what we have been up to:UPDATES1) 60 Days IGIP Global Challenge which will be based on re-raising TNs with the former TN Takers.2) Team leaders and Team members attending trainings with Tabiness Simwa and various companies.3) Recruitment for the CR team is coming up soon on the 11th of October.4) The national team will be launching a CRM Tool either on Podio or Google Docs to help us track LC activities when it comes to sales, marketing calls, raises e.t.c Training is in progress with the team members.
