WORKSHOPS

1. Impact of COVID on the VCF sector and future challenges

Jane Hobson, Independent Consultant Nigel Bellamy, Deputy Chief Executive, Sefton CVS A discussion led by Jane Hobson, Independent Consultant, author of Sefton CVS’s COVID Impact Survey Report to consider findings and review the current challenges for organisations and communities during the ongoing pandemic.

2. Digital Delivery through a pandemic Claire Morgans, CEO, YKids Charlotte Crowder, Progression Coordinator, Mencap Liverpool & Sefton An interactive workshop exploring how VCF sector organisations have adapted to digital delivery - including case studies of what has worked well, shared learning and opportunities and challenges going forward. Case studies from YKids and Mencap Liverpool & Sefton on innovative and imaginative ways to engage with young people and adults with additional needs.

3. Volunteering: COVID and Beyond Mike Howlett, Senior Citizenship & Volunteering Officer, Sefton CVS Kate Petrie, Citizenship & Volunteering Officer, Sefton CVS An interactive workshop exploring volunteering during the COVID outbreak, and what the future may hold. We will be looking at emerging trends locally and nationally, and discuss the volunteering needs of Sefton’s VCF Sector moving forward.

4. Creative and Alternative Fundraising during the COVID-19 pandemic

Charis Priestly-Bird, Senior Community Fundraiser, British Red Cross Livvy Ellison, Regional Community Fundraiser, Shelter This will session is aimed at small grassroots organisations who wish to develop their fundraising offer in response to the COVID pandemic. The session will be practical and interactive, and share insight from both participants and presenters on creative fundraising ideas. At the end of the session attendees will have identified their next steps in developing a flexible fundraising plan

5. Using quantitative & qualitative data to design and develop our local insight

Anna Nygaard, Acting Consultant in Public Health, Sefton MBC Helen Armitage, Consultant in Public Health, Sefton MBC COVID 19 Led by Public Health, Sefton Council, this session will provide a brief oversight of using the quantitative data and intelligence in Sefton, what it tells us, and how we also have to consider the qualitative context to make it locally resonant.

FUNDERS PH Holt Foundation Anne Edwards, Administrator PH Holt Foundation and sister charity, Holt Education Trust, are independent grant-makers helping to create a better future for the people of Merseyside. The PH Holt Foundation is named in honour of Philip Henry Holt, who with his brother Alfred, founded Ocean Steam Ship Company Ltd in 1865. In April and May 2020, 81 local charities received over £300,000 from the PH Holt Foundation Coronavirus Emergency Fund.

John Moores Foundation Phil Godfrey, Grants Director John Moores Foundation is a registered charity, established in 1964, that gives money to local community organisations doing charitable work. John Moores Foundation focus on funding projects based in Merseyside (including Skelmersdale, Halton, and Ellesmere Port) and Northern Ireland.

The Steve Morgan Foundation Jane Harris, Administrator Founded in 2001 by Steve Morgan CBE, to support projects that help children and families, people with physical or learning disabilities, the elderly, or those that are socially disadvantaged in North Wales, Merseyside and Cheshire. The Steve Morgan Foundation have committed assets of £300m since 2001 with a further £12 million committed to their COVID-19 SMF Emergency Fund.

The National Lottery Community Fund Sarah Blackie, Funding Officer, North West In 2019/20, The National Lottery Community Fund awarded over £588 million, and 83% of grants were under £10,000. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, The National Lottery Community Fund administered the UK Government’s Coronavirus Community Support Fund.

The Community Foundation for Merseyside Rae Brooke, Chief Executive Since 1999, The Community Foundation for Merseyside have distributed in excess of £41 million to charities and community groups in Merseyside. As a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the Metro Mayor Steve Rotherham partnered with the CFM to launch the LCR Cares COVID-19 Community Support Fund for community groups and it has distributed almost £2 million to frontline community response.
