In the Beatitudes, Jesus teaches us to act with mercy, compassion and love. Help the Cardinal’s Appeal apply the Beatitudes throughout our communities. To date 58 families have donated $13,600 to the Appeal effort in our parish. Please join them in order for us to meet our goal of $144,000. Let us show our strength in faith, in unity and in Jesus’ call to action.

Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9am – 2pm. Donations are needed – home furnishings, sports equipment, books, appliances, clothing, toys & baby items. Donations may be dropped off at the school on Friday April 13th at 5pm. Any questions, please contact: [email protected]
~~~~~~~~ Our Lady’s Guild would like to thank all those who donated eggs and candy along with bake sale items for the Easter Egg Hunt held on Saturday, March 24th. Over 1,000 eggs filled the children’s baskets and all attendee’s -- children & adults -- enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon. Please note the next meeting of Our Lady’s Guild is this TUESDAY, April 10th at 8pm in the school and will feature their annual Penny Social. Bring items you no longer use or need (home decor, gift sets that just weren’t your style, etc.) and bid on other members’ items as well. The Penny Social is always a fun night.

Divine Mercy Sunday ~ April 8, 2018 In 1931, Jesus appeared to St. Faustina and asked that the Sunday after Easter become the “Feast of Mercy.” Jesus promised anyone who honors him as King of Mercy and prays the Chaplet of Divine Mercy – the prayer he gave St. Faustina – would receive special graces and great mercy.

On-line registration for the Annual Men’s Club Golf Outing is open at: OLSGolfOuting.eventbee.com The Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Westchester Hills Golf Club. This great event begins with check-in & lunch from 11am-12:30pm; shotgun start at 1pm; cocktails/appetizers/dinner in main dining room from 5:30-7pm and the awards program, raffles, live auction begin at 7pm. A PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly
Second Sunday of Easter (or Sunday of Divine Mercy) “In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey His commandments. For the love of God is this, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith…Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” One day a sign outside a church read ‘God gave us commandments, they are not suggestions.’ As we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, we are well aware of the Lord’s desire to give us His peace, to offer us His mercy. There are two requirements for this to happen, 1. We ask for His gift of peace and pardon and 2. We acknowledge our dependence upon the Lord to be so blessed. The ten commandments of Exodus were the requirement of the covenant. The great commandment of Jesus, love of God and neighbor allows me to focus more clearly on what I need to do. In both cases I must act. The question ‘how well am I doing?’ is answered when I look at the beatitudes of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount to discover that I am poor in spirit, meek, humble, working for justice, being a peace-builder. Yes, love the children of God and keep His commandments.

Camp Veritas is a week-long “play and pray” pilgrimage and summer camp for teens entering grades 7-12. Daytime activities include soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, dodge ball, swimming & more. The sessions are facilitated by Sr. Muriel Cooney, O.P. and Chaplain Rosemary Parandelis. “Loss forever changes the world that we have known, but every ending demands a new beginning. For many of us experiencing bereavement that journey seems daunting: How do we get to that place? The healing process of mourning takes time, energy and patience.
