Expertise for the FutureZüblin Chimney and Refractory GmbH (ZÜBLIN CR), resulting from the merger of OOMS-ITTNER-HOF and Behmann, is one of the leading companies in the fields of chimney construction, refractory construction and technical insulation. We offer customers services from a single source, starting with consulting and planning, through to delivery and ready- to-use installations, including also maintenance and final documentation. As a subsidiary of Ed. Züblin AG, we are part of STRABAG SE, one of the largest construction firms in Europe and operational worldwide. We are therefore always in a position to be close to and assist our customers.

We use our experience together with the latest technical standards and developments and are an active member of DGFS (Deutsche Gesellschaft Feuerfest- und Schornsteinbau e.V.) as well as CICIND (International Association of Industrial Chimney Construction Companies).

Also through our connections within the STRABAG-Group, we are able to participate in all of the latest internal training programmes. This training input has held us in good stead for many years and even today the majority of our present day site employees and project managers started their careers with us as young trainees within the Company.

Quality Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Protection and Engineering

We were one of the fist companies certified in the areas of quality management, occupational safety, environmental protection and engineering. Certificates including SCC(P), OHSAS 18001, SeSaM, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are evidence of our unremitting commitment to dealing responsibly with our employees and the environment as well as our constant desire to attain our high quality standard. Our “In-House” Engineering Departments ensure that the experience and available knowhow is implemented throughout the complete project phase from implementation through to completion. Use of the computer programs developed by us together with the Central Technical Department of the STRABAG-Group put us in a position to optimise the working process resulting in state of the art projects, where required.

Research and Development

Technology in chimney and refractory construction has changed over the past decades, creating new challenges resulting from the new environmental constraints, methods and materials. Hence, we developed a cover plate system for use in waste incineration plants whilst paying particular attention to the anchoring for the connection to the boiler wall, using a ceramic anchor tie, thus creating an extended life for the installed system. We are also involved with well-known plant builders, under the auspices of RWE Power AG in the development of compressed-air storage for the electricity supply under the name „ADELE“, and are working on the design of the storage material inside the reactor. Our highly qualified and experienced employees also contribute their knowledge in individual working groups within the German Society for Refractory and Chimney Construction (DGFS) and other such renowned organisations.

Everything from a Single SourceChimney Construction

The requirements in this field of activity are as high as the structures themselves. Wind, vibration and environmental effects stress chimneys as do the chemical and physical loads from exposure to flue gas. Whether masonry, block, GRP, steel or reinforced concrete chimneys, our qualified specialists undertake the planning, design and calculation as well as the construction and erection of projects. We are also a competent partner for the main tenance, service inspections, conversion and the construction of all project types.

Refractory Construction

We cover almost the entire industrial spectrum in refractory construction and focus particularly on Power, incineration, steel production facilities, chemical and petrochemical plants. Our customers can select individual modules or service packages from the numerous services we offer in order to suit their needs. In addition to the initial project planning and construc-tion work, we also offer our customers support over the course of the entire service life of their facilities. The know-how we have acquired from the construction of new facilities as well as the further development of materials, material behaviour and assembly technologies flow into the operation of existing facilities and we attain to ensure that they are always kept functional and, as required, state of the art. Customer benefit and Client satisfaction have always been at the forefront of our work.

Technical Insulation

The possible uses of our technical insulations are as diverse as the requirements placed on them. We offer our customers a broad range of technical insulations for different applications – from protection against heat and cold as well as fire and right up to noise protection. The experience of our engineers in providing consultation advice and selecting suitable insulating materials for both delivery and installation of the insulation guarantees the highest quality – not least because our customers obtain their services from a single source – enabling – not only the facility but also the customer to be on the safer side of life.
