Reflection Wherever we go the Lord Jesus wants us to bring the good news and blessings of his kingdom to as many people as we can. The

Lord Jesus calls us the salt of the earth. He wants us to bring the flavor of his goodness and holiness into every area of society we

are engaged in. Christ calls us the light of the world. He wants us to make him known and loved by helping people to see the radi-

ance of his love and truth and the beauty of his kingdom. That is why Jesus continues to commission his followers throughout every

age to “make disciples of all nations” (John 17:18, Matthew 28:19).

"Lord Jesus, you fill us with the joy of your saving presence and you give us the hope of everlasting life with the Father in Heaven.

Show me the Father that I may know and glorify him more fully.

Catholic Communication Campaign

The essential mission of the CCC is to contribute to

the process of evangelization by fostering activities in

relation to television, radio, internet, and other

media, and through special projects of the Catholic

press. An annual collection is taken up in the

dioceses, which remit 50% of the funds collected to

the National Office. From these funds, grants are

made by the USCCB. The remaining portion of the

collection is retained by the dioceses for use in local

communication projects.

Community † Family news, During this difficult time in dealing with the Covid-19 virus and its effects it is important to keep each other in our prayers for continued good health or recovery. It is also important to stay in touch with each other. One way would be to write or relay items of family or community news to fellow parishioners and friends through our parish Email: [email protected]. Posted to the parish bulletin this would be a way of keep-ing each other informed and perhaps raise spirits in this uncertain and trying times. Any news thoughts or prayers Long or short are welcome. Please give this idea some consideration. May God bless you and keep you.

Willow has been a member of the Walton family since the Week after Christmas. She has been very

busy training both Kathy and Frank during that entire time period.

She has seriously lessened

the "isolation" during the virus."

Father God, You are the everlasting Lord, and I praise you.

Thank you for our precious Willow.

Amen

How I was affected by covid19. The quarantine prevented us from going to mass especially Easter mass and Holy

Week services. We watch the mass on TV but of course it was not the same. Our grandson couldn't come for

Spring break. We couldn't go out to dinner but we could go out for a walk. We were not cooped up indoors.

We have our health and I know things will get better. Mary Ann Frey -St. Gerard

With no weekly collections, Sacred Heart & St. Gerard are experiencing a sharp decline in donations. We need to support our Parish and Mission to make sure they can continue to operate now

and for many years to come! Please consider supporting your parish with a recurring online donation or simply mail your weekly contribution to

Sacred Heart, P O Box 729, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. 32170

Please remember our parish in these difficult times and thank you for your continued generosity!

The Church Ladies bulletins They're Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins! Thank God for the church ladies with typewriters. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced at church services: -------------------------- The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals. -------------------------- The sermon this morning: Jesus Walks on the Water. The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.' -------------------------- Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands. -------------------------- Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones. -------------------------- Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered. --------------------------

The church will host an evening of fine dining, super entertainment and gracious hostility.

-------------------------- Pot-luck supper Sunday at 5:00 PM - prayer and medication to follow. --------------------------

The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.

-------------------------- And this just about sums them all up!!

Heavenly Father, we could never thank our military men & women Policeman, fireman and 1st Responders enough for their courageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people.

Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank and love them better. Keep and protect these heroes and their families, in the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is in urgent need of assistance during this Covid-19 crisis. Many in our community are struggling to survive and provide for their families having been let go, laid off or furloughed because of the virus.

We are asking for donations of food and money in order to help alleviate the burden borne by the less fortunate in our community. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. You can contact the Society through their main number, 426-0882 or the Sacred Heart office at 428-6426.

Ϯ Spiritual Quote ϯ “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in

God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are

many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told

you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go

and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and

take you to myself,

so that where I am you also may be. Where I am

going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master,

we do not know where you are going; how can we know

the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth

and the life. No one comes

to the Father except through me. If you know me, then

you will also know my Father. From now on you do know

him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Master,

show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus

said to him, “Have I been with

you for so long a time and you still do not know me,

Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.

How can you say, “Show us the Father’? Do you not

believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?

The words that I speak to you I do not

speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing

this works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the

Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works

themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you,

whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and

will do greater ones than these, because I am

going to the Father.

John 14:1-12

1.First Communion – The bishop of Orlando, Bishop John Noonan, advised all pastors and Parish Catechetical Leaders (like me) to make a determination on when this sacrament will be celebrated. Father Tom and I had discussed this and his advice is to wait until churches are advised to open . I assure you that Father Tom will make the decision when it will be safe for all of us to congregate beyond the 10 people limits and safe social distancing guidelines have been relaxed. 3. Sunday Sessions - We will continue to conduct remote learning every Sunday until the end of our Catechetical Year for Religious Education on May 10, Mother’s Day. 4. Vacation Bible School - This is my personal “Fiat” – Let it be done according to His will. We have not cancelled the original scheduled dates of June 15 -19. We will keep you posted. 5. Summer Remote Learning – I will reach out to you as plans on Virtual Fun Summer activities come underway. Our pastor has to approve all the programs that we are planning on providing this summer but I invite you to check your emails regularly for some wonderful programs this summer. Thank you for your time. We are together in prayers Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of our teachers/catechists if you need anything. We are here to support you. Father Tom is sending his blessings to all of you and your families. God bless you. We miss you all. Thank you for

your time. Maria Bilodeau
