Last week we asked for some feedback for the musical as it is such a big undertaking in terms of cost, time and effort. Many positive responses were received.. From the students: ….doing the musical taught me patience and self confidence….it helped me increase my focus….I became more co operative….we worked together as a team….learning my lines taught me responsibility….I worked harder….I connected with new people….I learnt self discipline….I was encouraged to get involved….it was an experience of a life time….I just loved it! From the grandparents: ….“I have attended many plays in my time but this was incredible. The best school musical I have ever experienced - the sets, the costumes were wonderful and I just wanted to congratulate you all on the huge effort! It was really fabulous.” From parents: the students were so talented....another wonderful performance….I couldn’t believe they were primary school students….they all had a ball….the best musical so far….. the children were so polite and respectful….lovely to see the creative side of our school. From teachers ….all of the students were so dedicated….it was wonderful to see students who would normally be quite reserved shine on that stage….brilliant acting and singing….this musical allowed so many students to step up and share their wonderful talents! From the local Kindy....“The staff and children enjoyed the musical so much and the children cannot stop talking about it…. they have never seen anything like it…..so professional.”

The musical for most children is a chance to be outside their comfort zone. It is on the stage that they experience growth, confidence and discover something quite magical.

Wishing all of our families and members of the Sacred Heart community a happy, safe and well-earned break. Take time out from the daily routine to embrace some special family time without the rush!

Looking forward to seeing you all for another term of exciting learning and the many festivities Term 4 brings! Kind regards Mrs Fiona Ngamu ACTING PRINCIPAL

Social and Emotional Learning The holidays are approaching next week and it is a time to rest, recoup and have some down time.

What can you do to promote Social and Emotional Learning at home?

• Provide opportunities for play with others- or get bored so the imagination

starts working

• Encourage discussion of feelings-have a day of labelling your families

feelings

• Support children’s confidence- talk about self talk- really listen to each

other

• Lead by example- Be a good role Model

• Give children choices- respect difference

• Encourage creative problem solving- building cubby houses, digging a hole,

design a menu- make the dinner for you or a dessert

• Teach children to use assertive communication skills

At Sacred Heart we have been celebrating the Season of Creation and Fruit and Vegetable Month. This has seen classes collecting data on how many fruit and vegetables are being eaten. The Stage 3 students as part of the STEM Garden Project have worked with the Northern Beaches Council and have implemented the School Composting System. Each class has a container for collection of fruit and vegetable scraps after Crunch and Sip. Children from each class then empty them into our new composting system each day at 10:50.

This is an exciting initiative as it is building on our STEM work as well as improving and educating the children around sustainable and biodiversity. The Self Watering System for the

Vegepods is also up and running with children now planting tomato plants and new seedlings.
