A Faithful “Note” from Lindsey Skinner, Liturgy & Music Director

Stewardship of Treasure “For it is in giving that we receive”

A Stewardship Thought “Using God's Gifts, Doing God's Work”

“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?” ~John 6:9 The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only miracle which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let Him. No gift is too small or insignificant!

All of us who attend Sacred Heart Church have a role in our music ministry. Whether you are a part of the Great Choir—the Assembly who sings with such heart at each Mass—or a member of a specific group that helps to lead our song, you have a role. There are many opportunities to serve outside of the Great Choir. If you play an instrument, you will be welcomed with open arms and a seat with your name on it. If you

are an adult or teen who likes to sing, there are five groups in which you can share this gift: the Sacred Heart choir that sings at the 9:00 AM Mass and on all major feasts, the SH Contemporary Choir that sings at the 11:45 , the Lifeteen Choir that sings once a month at 11:45, as a Cantor at any of our Masses. The SH Choir practices on Wednesdays from 7:00-9:00 PM, the 11:45 Choir practices on Sunday from 10:45-11:30 AM, Lifeteen practices on a schedule set by Jean Woodman, and Cantors are invited to attend the Wednesday practice before they sing on the weekend. There are also two children’s choirs at SH. Our Cherub Choir is for children in grades 1-3 and practices on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00 PM. Our Chorister Choir is for children in grades 4-8 and practices on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:45 PM. Choristers sing once a month at the 9:00 AM Mass and the two choirs combine for Christmas, Easter, and Mother’s Day. The combined groups also present concerts at Christmas and in the spring. Sacred Heart is also proud to have a Handbell Choir made up of dedicated ringers—some who have been playing for more than 15 years! The choir rings at masses throughout the year, especially at Christmas and Easter. This group practices on Monday from 7:00-8:30 PM. Space is limited in this choir—check to see if there is a spot available. I have had the privilege of helping to direct our music ministry for over 26 years. In that time, I have been blessed by the people with whom I have sung and accompanied and have been elated over the increased participation of the Great Choir. Won’t you consider becoming a member of a choir or playing an instrument? You won’t regret it! Call me at 478-335-5837 for more information. Lindsey Skinner Director of Music & Liturgy

The Knights of Columbus and their Ladies Auxillary wish to thank our parish family for sharing time, talent and treasure in hosting the brunch for Fr. Chris Hassel

after his First Mass. It was a joyous celebration!

The family of Arnold (Steve) Stevens would like to thank the parish for your prayers, well-wishes and cards on his recent passing. Our church family made this difficult time more bearable. ~Carole, Mark, and Shawn Stevens

This week we are going to answer the question, “How can you have VICTORY over your character defects?”

To learn more, please join us this Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the PAC cafeteria. Safe place, no mask, no judgement, complete confidentiality. Free child care provided. Bruce “Boomer” Twining 478-335-9428

FRENCH BOYS CHOIR ‘LES MOINEAUX’ AT SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH Children globetrotters, les Petits Chanteurs de Nogent-sur-Marne, formerly called ‘Les Moineaux’, have been singing and travelling in France and all over the world for 65 years. This institution gives young boys a special experience of life through singing and group life. Traveling in various countries also gives them the opportunity to discover different cultures. Their life is made of concerts, television shows, singing lessons, tours and participating in the liturgy. They regularly give concerts of the repertoire (Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Vivaldi's Gloria, etc.) in prestigious places, and also sing for humanitarian causes. Les Moineaux will be on tour in the East and South of the United States this Summer 2018. They will offer concerts including music of the sixteenth century and the well known Hallelujah from Handel, Ave Maria from Gounod, as well as music pieces of the French folklores. They will also exclusively sell their last CD. This choir of 16 passionate boys, from 10 to 18 years old, is conducted by François OLIVIER, who is also the Titular of the Choir Organ at the prestigious church St. Eustache at Paris (France).

Make plans now to attend this very special FREE

concert! No reservations or tickets necessary.

Donations gladly accepted. For questions, please

contact Lindsey Skinner or the church office at

478-923-0124.

BLESSINGS INSTEAD OF THE EUCHARIST There are many people who come forward in the communion lines for each Mass who are seeking a blessing instead of communion. Some may be non-Catholics participating with friend and family. Some are children too young to have made a First Communion. Some are all ages who have

chosen, for whatever reason, not to receive on this day. Typically, those not wishing to receive come to us with some form of their arms crossed over their chests. Every year at training, the question comes up as to how we are to deliver that blessing. Father has suggested we touch the person in some manner and say, “God bless you,” or “Bless you”. I have seen Father touch a shoulder, a forehead, or the top of a small head. In any case, it is your choice as to how you will respond to the request for a blessing. Just please do so in a genuine and loving manner.

MENSAJE DE JUAN FONT

¡Hola!

¡Gracias! ¡Te esperamos!
