October 29, 2017
The Feast of All Saints is a Holy Day of Obligation.
It is this Wednesday, November 1. Our Mass Schedule will be
as follows:
Wednesday, November 1 noon at St. Patrick’s
5:30pm at St. Ann’s
**Please note
You have undoubtedly noticed that there may be more than one Mass intention at
any given Mass on any given day.
The reason for this is, with the closing of St. Brigid’s and the combining of the
9:30am and 11am Masses, the intentions needed to be covered that were originally
scheduled.
Please be patient during this time of transition. It will not always be this way, but
until all of our already scheduled Masses are offered, we need to combine.
If you have a Mass intention on a particular day and would like to bring forward
the gifts at the offertory procession, please let the usher know you are there and
would like to do so. This can also be a shared task.
Thank you for your understanding.

Sunday, November 19th we will remember in a special way
those deceased members of our parish that have had their
funeral liturgies celebrated at St. Charles-St. Ann in the
past year. The Mass of Remembrance will be offered at
the 10:30 Mass on the 19th.
RESPECT LIFE
Most people who opt for assisted suicide where it is legal do not do so because they are in pain, and very few are referred to a psychologist to be treated for possible depression. In our own states, we must support true end of life care that includes ade-quate pain management as well as spiritual and personal accom-paniment of ill and elderly persons that is best expressed in love. We must stand against a false compassion that replaces caring
with killing.
For the month of November, candles have been lit in loving memory
of Kenneth and Patricia Lake by Family
Some of our YIM members spent a beautiful afternoon picking apples for various Food Pantries. Thanks to the St. Charles Food Pantry, our teens picked over 20 full bags of apples for our own pantry and to be donated to St. Lucy’s and Assumption. Our teens had the per-fect Fall day to take a drive to the Orchards, taste some delicious fritters, enjoy lunch with the most gorgeous view and pick lots of apples to donate. Thank you to Joe Militi who helped drive our teens
and to Mike and Donna Alberts who came along to join us.
6th Grader's Morning of Service
On Sunday, October 15th, Mrs. Dunning’s 6th grade class spent the
morning raking leaves for Sarah House.
Sarah House provides housing for families from out of town who have a seriously ill family member in one of the local hospitals. The
students raked 14 bags of leaves!
The class supports Sarah House throughout the year by baking des-serts, writing cards and praying for the families during a difficult time. Keep up the
great work!
St. Charles Church
November 5th at 6pm.
Our Faith Formation students
grades 8-12 will be praying the
Rosary for Peace
Each decade will be proclaimed in 5
different languages, we will have scrip-
ture readings on Peace and hymns of
Peace.
Our world is in a very troubled time,
there are natural disasters, acts of vio-
lence, wars and intolerance.
Our Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, gave
us the rosary to pray for peace. We ask
you all to join us with your families and
listen to the many languages that call
out to Mary in prayer.
We especially invite all our children
grades K-7 to also join us! Let us share
this Vigil for Peace together as Church,
as community, as believers!
Karen Sparkes is looking for some more volunteers
to help with sandwich making for the Oxford Inn.
This is a ministry that many of the teams have been
doing for many years. The number of volunteers
are decreasing. If you are interested in being a
part of this mission, please call the rectory at 468-
1803. Thank you!

God reveals himself to us through the Bible. We come to know Him
and ourselves better when we study the Word. Sr. Brigid O’Mahoney

lives. The next meeting will be on November 11th and 18th from 9-11am
in the Media Room.

On Wednesday evening, October 18th, Karen Sparkes and the
Community of St. Ann’s Church were honored by the
Elmcrest Children’s Center at an awards banquet at the Ho-
tel Syracuse Grand Ballroom.
In the words of Joseph Geglia, Executive Director, “Karen
Sparkes truly is the spark that ignited the people of St. Ann’s
Parish in Syracuse to brighten Christmas at Elmcrest. For
more than 30 years, she spearheaded the drive for dona-
tions of Christmas gifts for all the children in our residenc-
es. “ We honor Karen and the parishioners at St. Ann’s for
their generosity. God Bless you all! Congratulations!
