Pastor’s Corner

“Jesus said to his disciples, Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Mt 11:28-30 Sometimes we can become discouraged when we look at all our responsibilities and duties that we have in life. Sometimes the expectations that we and others put on us can feel overwhelming. Sometimes we can also feel this way when we look at the expectations that God has for us too. This state of discouragement is what St. Ignatius calls “spiritual desolation.” This desolation is when the devil is attacking us in different ways in order to keep us from moving forward with God. The solution is to toss everyone’s expectations of us except for God’s. Next, we must fill up our hearts with God’s love through prayer and scripture. First things first. We will never be able to do what we were meant to do unless we are first filled with the spiritual love and power that comes from God who is the source of life. Once we are filled with God’s love and strength then God’s yoke for us is easy and light. God bless, Fr. Fasnacht
