the capital expenses. The following week will kick off the stewardship campaign that will run until 11/17.

Pastor Phil’s Message
Let’s get Growing! “That which is not busy being born, is busy dying.” Bob Dylan This fall can be a time we are busy continuing being born! We will have opportunities to hit the reset button, to reimagine our future, to think new thoughts and to explore new possibilities of what it is to be alive and in love with being. We are here having been given the gifts of time and being. Now it is up to us to DECIDE what we want to do with these gifts. The DECIDING and DOING is at the heart of spirituality. Let’s make this fall one of those delightful times of “growth spurt!” Let’s decide to grow in faithfulness, in grace, in compassion, in generosity, in knowledge and in mission. The Search Committee has been chosen and launched. Please pray for them and support them in this most important of endeavors. The Youth Group is revitalized and excited! We have big plans for this year! Please share in their excitement! So much work is being done in the church and on the grounds. Much thanks to the folks who have shepherded these projects. Breathe in deeply of the breath of God and be filled with God’s spirit! Blessings, Phil

Updates for the Administrations Committee Lighting updates have been completed in the Sunday School and Music rooms, Lauren Hall, Kitchen and Chapel. Any outdated equipment was removed and we now have energy saving LED lights!
The work for the Septic field that had to be moved is almost complete. They will be filling in the trench that is near the office entrance. Thank you to Scott Etienne for seeing that project through.
Also, the mess on the north side of the church grounds will be restored once the new pavement is completed.
Work continues in the basement. Some potential hazards have been revealed and we are addressing these so that all electrical and plumbing is safe in the future.
Our bell tower is being looked at because potential rotting wood. That will be resolved before winter.
A cleaning person has been hired to help take care of the Sanctuary, Lauren Hall, bathrooms and offices.
Thank you to Ron Bratzke for all the help with the lift project. As stated Sunday, we are waiting on final inspections.
Please note that the women’s retreat (Wonderfull World) has been changed (it will be held at church) to FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH at 7:00 p.m., and SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH at 9:00 a.m., as it was conflicting with home-coming and a lot of people couldn’t attend.
Here’s what it’s all about:
Session 1: Australia I wonder if anyone cares about me?
Session 2: Europe I wonder what it would be like to be royalty?
Session 3: Asia I wonder if I matter to God?
Session 4: Antarctica I wonder where God is when life is hard?
Session 5: South America I wonder if I can really rely on God?
Session 6: Africa I wonder if I can make a difference?
Session 7: North America I wonder what’s ahead for me?
This year, I’ve invited Ivanhoe UCC, and St. John’s UCC to join us!
If you never had been to a retreat at church, give it a try, we have a lot of fun besides digging deeper into the Bible, and forming friendships. Contact me at church or via email if you have any questions:
[email protected]. Thanks much!!

25th Church Anniversary
Congratulations to Laura Dragin. Laura joined Millburn Church on Oct. 30, 1994.
Nursery Update
We have decided to discontinue our church nursery service. All current students will be moving out of the nursery this fall. We have had trouble finding replacement staff for the nursery and feel that discontinuing this service is best at this time. Please feel free to contact Laura Dragin in the church office with any questions or concerns. We will have nursery service through September 1st.
