This report on the electromagnetic and magnetic surveys is submitted under the Special Provision dated October 16, 1967* for credit of 60 assessment work days per claim. The person in charge of the jlinecutting and geophysical work was Mr. W.F. Graham.
HOBLITZELL 1-73
LOCATION
The property, which consists of 10 contiguous unpatjented rain* ing claims numbered L-372036-45 inclusive, is situated in central Hoblitzell Township, approximately 60 miles east of Cochrane, Ontario. Hoblitzell Township is not surveyed into Lots and Con cessions.
ACCESS
The ground is reached by helicopter or by snowmachine trail which has been cut from West Porphyry Lake 2 miles to the southwest where a fixed wing aircraft can land.
TOPOGRAPHY
The ground is characterized by very flat swamp underlain by clay and vegetated with sparse black spruce and alders.
LINECUTTING
One Base Line was cut 5600' due East from a point 100' south of the #3 post of claim #L-372036. Traverse lines were cut at right angles to the Base Line at 400' intervals. The Base Linje and tra verse lines were all chained and picketed at 100' intervals. In all, about 11.1 miles of line were cut, chained and picketed.
MAGNETIC SURVEY
The magnetic survey (field and office) was performed from February 10 - September 3, 1974. The instrument used was a McPhar Fluxgate M-700. Base readings were taken along the Base Line and all readings were calculated relative to the base readings. Readings were taken at the base control stations at periodic intervals to discern day-to-day and diurnal drift. Any changes noted}in the mag netic intensity were then applied as factors and progressive adjust ments were made to each reading taken during that specific period of time.
The results of the magnetic survey are shown on the accompany ing prints. Background magnetics vary between 700 and BOO gammas. The highest magnetic intensity recorded is 14&5 gammas located at
-2- - :
on Line 4+OOE. The magnetics generally trend East-West which the regional strike of the rocks. There is a buildup along the
southern edge of the property which is consistent with a known but unexplained zone of high magnetics on the government airborne mag netic map. The linear zone of higher magnetics extending from 9+OON on Line 56+OOE to approximately 7+00S on Line 0+OOE may be the mag netic expression of a narrow zone of ferromagnesian enrichment with in the underlying volcanics and sediments.
ELECTROMAGNETIC SURVEY ' . ^
The electromagnetic survey (field and office) was pier formed from February 10 to September 3, 1974. j
The instrument used was a McPhar VLEM dual frequency unit cap able of operation at 1000 cycles per second, 5000 cycles per second, or both frequencies simultaneously. .1
:l
The equipment consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is composed of a transmitter coil, transmitter console and motor generator. The receiver is composed of a search coil, amplifier, clinometer and headphones.
The transmitter coil is energized by an alternating4 current produced by the motor generator and resulting in the production of a primary magnetic field. This primary magnetic field links with any conductor in its vicinity, producing an induced current which gives rise to a secondary magnetic field. At a given receiving station, the direction and magnitude of the primary field is altered by the secondary field. The direction of the resultant field is determined by means of the search coil with its attached clinometer;. Measure ments are made in terms of dip angles and are recorded in degrees. The plotting of the dip angles at both frequencies gives| profiles which are useful in estimating the depth of the conductor axis, the dip of the conductor and its relative conductivity.
The range of penetration is normally considered to be approxi mately one-half the separation distance between the transmitter and receiver, although other factors such as the conductivity of the overburden must also be taken into consideration.
, .j.
The results of the electromagnetic survey are shown on the prints accompanying this report. Two conductive zones were located.
-3-
onductor "A" extends from 4+OON on Line 20+OOE to 7+OON on LineE. The conductor is weak on the western end and strong on the
eastern end where it is open for extension. The conductivity is excellent. Conductor "B" extends from 1 2+00 S on Line 52*001! to 11+OOS on Line 56+OOE. The conductor is open for extension both east and west and the angles at the ends of Lines 3 6E, 40S, 44E and
all indicate a conductor to the south.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Two conductive zones were located. Conductor "B" appears to have flanking mag to the south. Conductor "A" should be' evaluated further east and Conductor "B" should be detailed to determine its length and its relation to the zone of high magnetics to the south. The property should be geologically mapped with special emphasis on the geophysical anomalies located.

The property, which consists of 12 contiguous unpatented min ing claims numbered L-374337-4& inclusive* is situated c^n the center of the eastern boundary of Hoblitzell Township with Noseworthy Township. Hoblitzell Township lies approximately 60 miles east of Cochrane, Ontario.
ACCESS v
The ground is reached by helicopter or by snowraachine trail from a small lake l mile to the : southeast which can be Reached by fixed wing aircraft during the wet seasons or in the winter on theice. The lake is very shallow. i
TOPOGRAPHY
The property is characterized by low hills of glacial drift and intervening swamp. Vegetation is black spruce and pioplar. The Burntbush River flows through the property from north to' south.
LINECUTTING.
Two Base Lines were cut. Base Line #1 was cut 2400' at and 3200' at NS00W from the #1 post of claim #L-374343* ! Base Line #2 was cut parallel to Base Line #1 between Line 0+00 arid Line 53+OOE at 12+OOS. Traverse lines were cut at right angles to the Base Lines at 400' intervals. The Base Lines and traverse lines were chained and picketed at 100' intervals.- In all, atjiout 11.5 miles of line were cut, chained and picketed.

mately one-half the separation distance between the transmitter andreceiver, although other factors such as the conductivity of the overburden must also be taken into consideration. ;
The results of the electromagnetic survey are shown on the prints accompanying this report. Two strongly conductivje zones
li N#00W extend completely across the property. Conductor rt
tends from 1+OON on Line 4+OOW to 9+OOS on Line 52+OOljjt It is a very strong conductor with very good conductivity and probably has its source in massive pyrite and possibly graphite, l Conductor "B11 extends from 17+OOS on Line 0+00 to 24+OOS on Line 3^+OOE. Its characteristics are very similar to those of conductor "A" and it probably has a similar source with the addition of pyrrhotite as evidenced by the flanking mag high to the north. |
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS* A V [
Conductors/is probably caused by massive pyrite and possibly graphite. Conductor "B" probably has its source in massive pyrite and pyrrhotite with graphite possibly contributing to the conduc tivity. The property should be mapped geologically with special emphasis on the geophysical anomalies located. *
