The accomplished conductor Hilary Davan Wetton and the highly regarded City of London Choir will join the Orchestra for another exceptional concert that celebrates the masters of music from the Classical era and demonstrates the classical choral tradition at its best. What better way to open such a concert than with Mozart’s overture to Don Giovanni – full of orchestral gravitas and oomph – followed by his exquisite Ave Verum Corpus, and culminating with Haydn’s moving and majestic mass, Heiligmesse.

Also joining the RPO is the vivacious pianist Alexandra Dariescu for an outstanding performance of Mozart’s immensely popular and influential Piano Concerto No.20.

Casting his eye over small-town American life, Keillor will sing humorous songs alongside the Orchestra and narrate between orchestral interludes in a concert that promises to be light-hearted and brimming with whimsical wit.

Jennifer Pike performs BruchTuesday 29th November 2016, 7.30pm

Mozart The Magic Flute Overture Tchaikovsky Polonaise from Eugene Onegin Bruch Violin Concerto No.1 Saint-Saëns Symphony No.3, ‘Organ’

Hailed by The Independent as ‘simply spectacular’, star soloist Jennifer Pike (BBC Young Musician of the Year 2002 winner) joins the RPO to perform Bruch’s heart-wrenching Violin Concerto No.1.

Under the direction of the young and critically acclaimed French conductor Jean-Luc Tingaud, this concert promises to impress with two ever-popular works from Mozart and Tchaikovsky as well as Saint-Saëns’ epic ‘Organ’ Symphony. This incredible piece was known for pushing the composer to his limits, about which he was to have said: ‘I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.’
