fice, located at 5250 Lankershim Blvd., #650,

North Hollywood, 91601. CRA/LA staff will also

pal Building, located at 19040 Vanowen St.,

CRA/LA remains a fixture in the West Valley.

They encourage folks not to hesitate to contact

them should they have any questions.

THE ARTS LIVEN UP RESEDA’S

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

To truly be a great city, it’s particularly crucial

to have thriving arts and culture. The San Fer-

nando Valley has a growing art scene led by

the efforts of 11:11, a creative collective bring-

ing together up-and-coming artists and putting

their art on display at community events. Con-

tinental Art Supply, a staple of Reseda for sev-

eral decades, opened its doors for Art In Num-

bers on Tuesday Oct 25th, boasting a tempo-

rary gallery of beautiful and creative artwork

from many talented artists, all curated by

11:11 and their principle purveyors Erin Stone,

Addy Gonzalez, and Matthew Plotkin. To add

to a great night of creative discovery, was a

discovery of a different kind: food! Passersby

were lured in by gourmet food trucks on Re-

seda Blvd, The Grilled Cheese Patrol and Slap

Yo Mama, who served up New Orleans style

soul food. Local food spots were on hand as

well, amidst the eclectic vendor fair. Aura’s

Xquisit Food served up gourmet coffee, carrot

cake and cupcakes, while Carniceria Corona

kept the scents wafting through the crowd of

delicious tacos and other Mexican fair. Reseda

came alive that night, and everyone is asking

now, “when’s the next one?” Stay tuned, Re-

seda! The Arts will return soon, and definitely

in numbers!

VETERAN’S DAY PARADE

The 8th

Annual San Fernando Veteran’s Day

at 11:11 AM on the corner of Laurel Canyon

rade will end at Ritchie Valens Recreation Cen-

ter, 10736 Laurel Canyon Blvd. in Pacoima.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and other

related organizations will set up booths to

provide services and information to Veterans

and their families at the conclusion of the pa-

rade.

to thank valued local first responders, a load of

organic mulch was delivered to Reseda Fire

Station 73 and Reseda Neighborhood Council

volunteers Brandon Balderas, Juan Guzman,

Hank Truxillo and Garth Carlson helped the

firefighters spread the mulch around the sta-

tion’s flower and shrubs to hold down weed

growth and reduce water needed for irrigation

of the plants.

BE PREPARED

Are you and your neighbors prepared for the

next disaster? Much has been made of keeping

food and water available for when the next

earthquake or other disaster strikes your

neighborhood. It’s imperative that everyone

keep sufficient supplies on hand.

Another tip in the effort to BE PREPARED: Con-

tact your neighbors and create a contact list of

phone numbers and email addresses that can

be used to contact each other should a disaster

occur. Make copies and distribute them to all

that are willing.

If you are interested in helping prepare your

community for a disaster, contact the Emer-

gency Disaster and Community Safety Commit-

tee and see what you can do to participate.
