BreathingAll living things depend on breathing. Breathing is the process that the respiratory system is in charged of. Oxygen comes in and carbon dioxide comes out.Breathing is vital for you and that´s why the respiratory is important for living organisms.
Parts and FunctionsIn the respiratory system there are many parts that have important functions. This are:
rip cage
diaprahgm
lungs
trachea or wind pipe
bronchial tubes
alveoli
capillaries
cilia
Parts and FunctionsThe rip cage is the cage of bones that protect the lungs, heart and other vital organs.The diaphragm is the muscle that sucks the oxygen into the lungs and carbon dioxide out of them. The lungs are practically the main organ of breathing because the capillaries and bronchi and other organisms are located there.
Parts and FunctionsThe trachea is the tube that connects the mouth and the nose to the lungs. The bronchial tubes are very thin “tubes” that take the oxygen into the capillaries and carbon dioxide out.The alveoli ( capillaries) are the blood vessels at the end of the bronchi. This vessels are one cell thin and take oxygen IN to the blood and carbon out of the blood.

Cilia are the little hairs in your trachea and bronchial tubes that take particles from the oxygen, not wanted by your body.
With the bodyAs I said before breathing is very important to your body because it is the process that take oxygen into your body and carbon out. Breathing is essential for living things because oxygen is the fuel that keeps us running.We need oxygen to run, think, scream, and live!
FactsThe right lung is slightly larger than the left.Hairs in the nose help to clean the air we breathe as well as warming it.The highest recorded "sneeze speed" is 165 km per hour.The surface area of the lungs is roughly the same size as a tennis court.The capillaries in the lungs would extend 1,600 kilometres if placed end to end.We lose half a litre of water a day through breathing. This is the water vapour we see when we breathe onto glass.A person at rest usually breathes between 12 and 15 times a minute.The breathing rate is faster in children and women than in men.
