NEIGHBORHOOD & PROJECT UPDATES:

I. Novel Coronavirus: What You Need to Know o New York City entered Phase Two of reopening on Monday, June 22 o Governor Cuomo has partnered with New Jersey Governor Murphy and Connecticut

Governor Lamont to create a joint travel advisory for individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19, requiring a quarantine for 14 days when visiting their states.

o Phase Three indoor dining will be postponed in New York City as states across the country that previously reopened indoor dining are experiencing upticks in COVID-19 cases.

o General / Standing Reminders— Keep a safe social distance – at least six (6) feet – from others Wear a mask in public when you cannot maintain a safe distance from others Avoid close contact, such as shaking hands, hugging, and kissing Wash hands often or use a hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available Signage across BPC serves to remind about these rules, and our Ambassadors

continue working w/NYPD 1st Pct. to help keep our parks safe & accessible to all. BPC Ambassador Services available on 24/7/365 basis at (212) 945-7233

or [email protected]; Ambassadors regularly liaise with NYPD 1st Precinct The public may also contact 311 to report a Social Distancing Violation;

complaints are also routed to local precinct for follow-up.

o Public Restrooms— Re-opened at Teardrop Park and Wagner Park on June 16, 8AM-3:30PM daily Hours extended to 8AM to 6:30PM daily on June 25 Does not include restrooms @ BPC Ball Fields (see below)

o Rockefeller Park Handball Court Re-opened on June 16, dawn to dusk daily For solitary recreation only; occupancy limited to one person at a time

o Dog Runs— Re-opened on June 22 to regular round-the-clock availability, with drinking

fountains and hoses re-activated for cleaning; owners asked to be diligent about cleaning up after their pets during evenings / overnight as BPCA works way back up to full staffing.

o Playgrounds

accordance with New York State’s reopening guidance for sports and recreation

III. COVID-19: Construction Updates

Across two New York Blood Center-coordinated drives at BPCA’s 6 River Terrace in June, the Battery Park City community donated nearly 200 units to help replenish New York City’s blood supply. Thank you, donors! VI. REMINDER: Census 2020

VIII. Return of Hoboken-Brookfield Place Ferry Service

o NY Waterway Ferry service between Hoboken & Brookfield Place resumed 6AM on Monday, June 29

o Initial operating schedule provides for less-frequent service over an abbreviated operating day – roughly one vessel departing every 20 minutes from Brookfield beginning at 6:10AM through 7:10PM, Monday-Friday

o Brookfield terminal staffed throughout the operating day by ticket agents and porters, enforcing social distancing and other precautionary measures to protect staff, passengers, and the general public Everyone entering the facility and vessels must wear a mask Employees will be screened daily to confirm their wellbeing. The terminals and vessels will be cleaned throughout the operating period and

X. BPC Sustainability Plan o On Earth Day 2020, BPCA issued the Battery Park City Sustainability Plan, a

comprehensive pathway to achieve progressive sustainability targets over the next decade, and laying the groundwork for continued sustainability action after 2030.

o Developed in consultation with a broad range of residential, local, and governmental stakeholders, the Plan provides the framework for developing and implementing a carbon neutral Battery Park City by the middle of the century.

o The BPC Sustainability Plan also calls for more green space, less energy and water use, multi-modal shared streets, and better air quality in BPC.

o BPC Sustainability Plan to be accompanied by a set of two enabling documents later this month: The new Green Guidelines will

provide detailed guidance to BPCA and to Battery Park City building owners, managers, and tenants, including the steps necessary to achieve a more sustainable Battery Park City

The Implementation Plan will outline the policies, programs, partnerships, tools, and funding mechanisms that are available, or can be created, to assist in transforming the BPC Sustainability Plan into a reality

o Battery Park City is home to a wide range of wildlife across its 36 acres of parks and public space, from native insects to more than 100 species of birds.

o Now, you can help Battery Park City improve its natural habitat by participating in BPCA’s Wildlife Census. To do so, find a quiet spot in one of our parks – at least six feet away from others, of course! – to complete a brief wildlife observation.
