* Future in the past – at first sight, it might seem an oxymoron.

Future in the Past is used to express the idea that in the past you thought something would happen in the future. It does not matter if you are correct or not.

Examples:

•I knew Julie would make dinner. Yo sabia que Julie concinaría la cena.

•Mary said she would study for the test. Mary dijo que estudiaría para el exámen.
