Recording the Preferred Name

(RDA 9.2.2.4)

Record as the first element that part of the name under which the person would normally be listed in authoritative alphabetic lists in his or her language or country of residence or activity, followed by other parts of the name.

Exception

If a person's preference is known to be different from the normal usage, follow that preference in selecting the part of the name to be recorded as the first element.
