Balancing On A Log - Demonstrate traveling skills

Traveling Skills = walk, run, hop, heel-to-toe, tiptoe, backwards, sideways

Grab a beach towel. Fold it in half twice to create a log. Pretend you are going on a picnic, to a party. Remember to

use your imagination! Think! What are some different ways that you could move along the log? (walk, walk heel-to-toe,

tiptoe, backwards, sideways) Don’t forget to extend your arms

out like an airplane. Challenge yourself to balance an object on different parts of your body as you move along the log.

Draw a picture or take a video of you crossing your log. Use Class Dojo or email to send it to Mrs. Meyers. Have Fun!

Little Miss Muffet

Preparation and Instruction: Explain to the child that a tuffet is a little chair. Both you and the child will each

make a tuffet by making a fist with your hands. Place your tuffet together with knuckles touching. Tell the

child that you will be Miss Muffet and the child will be the spider.

“Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet.”

With your non-tuffet hand, make little Miss Muffet by holding up two bent fingers from a fist. While saying

these words, bring Miss Muffet over and have her sit on your other hand or tuffet.

“Eating her oatmeal today.”

Move your two upright fingers back and forth in an eating motion.

“Along came a spider and sat down beside her,”

The child will use his non-tuffet hand as a spider. Holding the hand palm down with fingers dangling like the

legs of a spider, the child is to “walk” the spider over to sit on the tuffet hand.

And said “Have a good day!”

Use your Little Miss Muffet hand to open the child’s tuffet hand and shake that hand while lovingly saying,

“Have a good day!”

(For a variation, substitute your child’s name in the rhyme instead of Miss Muffet.)

Have Fun!
