MAY 6TH - CONTINUED the morning is free to do as you please. Breathe in the light ocean breeze and take in the 360-degree views from the roof top pool area. Sun, swim, relax - no need to get up from that lounge chair, when the cravings hit for a killer margarita or tasty tapas, the tempting selections come to you. Early afternoon, we join Laurence Hauben of Market Forays for the ultimate locavore experience. Welcome to the Santa Barbara Farmers Market . Each week the farmers in the marketplace display a colorful bounty of agricultural products grown right in their back-yards. Come shop, socialize! This is a great way to connect with the local growers and food enthusiasts. Our next stop is ‘Chocolate Maya’ a unique chocolate shop. Perhaps treat yourself to a decadent piece of dark chocolate or a shot of thick voluptuous European-style hot chocolate?! A highlight of the tour - this evening opens a window into a more gracious, relaxed and happier way of life. Sharing the bounty of local, seasonal foods is just the beginning as we enjoy the intimacy of cooking in a private home with Laurence and John followed by dinner paired with local wines. After dinner return to the hotel. Meals: B,D

MAY 7TH - Today after breakfast we depart for the Santa Ynez Valley. With a moderate climate, beautiful scenery and peaceful country living, the Santa Ynez Valley has become a wine tasting destination like no other. Our first stop is at the Foley Estates Vineyard and Winery, a premier Pinot Noir and Chardonnay house located in the Santa Rita Hills. Savor the award winning wines in the Hospitality Center which affords visitors spectacular vistas of neighboring mountain ranges, coastal oaks and contoured hillside vines. Next on our wine tour, the Melville Winery resembles a romantic Mediterranean Villa. Sip a glass of fine Pinot Noir in an exquisite tasting room encased by a rotunda of French doors overlooking a picturesque garden setting and courtyard. Lunch is at the Los Olivos Café, where Giamatti mutters “I’m not drinking any f*** Merlot”. The warmth of the wisteria-covered patio welcomes you at the Los Olivos café where Miles, Jack, Maya and Stephanie enjoyed dinner and several exquisite bottles of wine. Our final stop for the day, before we settle in at the Marriott Santa Ynez Valley Hotel for the evening, is the Dierberg and Star Lane Vineyards. This tasting showcases the incredible diversity of the

MAY 7TH - CONTINUED vineyards . Enjoy a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Char-donnay. A late morning departure takes us to the first of the two wineries featured on the Sideways wine trail. “Miles, Jack, Maya and Stephanie sneak out of a wine lecture to share a romantic walk through the Barrel Room” Welcome to the Firestone Winery. The tour guides will guide you through the history of the winery and through the production of fine wines from vine to glass. The tasting room features an island bar and picture windows that overlook the beautiful estate vineyards. Lunch is next. We find a picture perfect spot overlooking the Santa Ynez Valley to enjoy your gourmet picnic basket. An early afternoon visit to the Sanford Winery completes our tour of the Sideways wine trail. Sanford Winery welcomes you to the tasting room adjacent to the beautiful stone and abode winery and estate vineyards at Rancho La Rinconada. A unique place in the world, we invite you to soak up this visual experience over a glass of exquisite Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. Our final stop, the Hitching Post Restaurant made internationally famous for its appearances in the Sideways movie, is well renowned for both its wine list and the corn-fed Midwestern beef steaks. SIDEWAYS WINE TRAIL

MAY 9TH - This morning, after breakfast, we depart for Los Angeles Airport for the flight home. As you travel along the California coastline take the opportunity to reflect on: “This week is not about me. It is about you. I'm

gonna show you a good time. We're gonna drink a lot of good wine. We're gonna play some golf. We're gonna eat some great food and enjoy the scenery and we are going to send

you off in style, mon frere.”

(Miles Raymond, from the Sideways movie) Meals: B

The film Sideways (2004) made a star out of Santa

Barbara, California's Wine Country and drummed up

demand for pinot noir around the world. Directed by Alexan-

der Payne, (Election, About Schmidt) Sideways

won an Oscar® for best the adapted screenplay

(based on the novel by Rex Pickett). Payne wrote the

Sideways screenplay with his long-time screenwriting part-

ner, Jim Taylor. Sideways tells the story of a celebratory road

trip saluting Jack's (Thomas Haden Church) final days as a

bachelor. A sojourn in Santa Barbara County's verdant Wine

Country valleys quickly careens sideways as he and Miles

(Paul Giamatti) hit the gas en route to mid-life crises. The

unlikely pair both share a heady blend of failed potential,

fading youth, and a nose for drowning in wine and women

(played by Sandra Oh and Virginia Madsen).
