Jing Sarao Program Moderator PP Mari Lacson PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ROWENA “Jing” SARAO We just entered our 3 rd week for this Rotary year and the entire Rotary District 3830 is in full swing with inductions, seminars, conferences and projects underway. Our club likewise is fully engaged either with other clubs or preparing for our own key projects and our 17 th Induction. Last week our club co-hosted the Judicial Seminar in Paranaque under Vocational Service; co-hosted the Tuloy Sa Don Bosco children’s performance in CCP mini-theatre as part of Youth programs; and the raising of funds by Gilda Lim for Environment causes. We also had a memorandum of agreement signed with RC Makati Poblacion to be sister clubs. The club also commenced preparations for the forthcoming induction on August 7. Fellowship followed with the birthday celebration of Charter President Rennie Andrews at Europa Dance Studio. This week we are once again focused on preparations for the Induction but with a guest speaker, Ms. Annabella Morelos-Chan, who will talk about processes and mechanism used to raise funds for worthy causes. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

We just entered our 3rd week for this Rotary year and the entire Rotary District 3830 is in full swing with inductions, seminars, conferences and projects underway. Our club likewise is fully engaged either with other clubs or preparing for our own key projects and our 17th Induction.

Last week our club co-hosted the Judicial Seminar in Paranaque under Vocational Service; co-hosted the TuloySa Don Bosco children’s performance in CCP mini-theatre as part of Youth programs; and the raising of funds by Gilda Lim for Environment causes. Charter President Rennie Andrews celebrated her birthday with a lot of dancing, swinging, waltzing, eating, drinking, laughing and just having loads of fun, camaraderie and fellowship. Filled with fun, laughter, food and drinks, everyone enjoyed the celebration. It set the stage for other celebrants to follow.

WORK HISTORY 5/94 to Present: President of AAMC Inc.A Philippine based consulting company engaged in technology transfer, niche services and economic development initiatives in the private, public and non-profit sectors in Developing Countries.1982-1994: Chairman/President of Austin Construction Steel Co. Inc.(co-founder)A Texas corporation that supplied steel to the construction and hi-tech industries. It ranked second in Central Texas with a 7-state market. Regularly cited for corporate and manufacturing excellence, it was consistently profitable in multiples of the national industry average. Innovative policies such as the employment of ex-offenders and recovering addicts placed it in State of Texas list of Top 10 Companies in Texas for Employee Benefits along with TI, Scott and White Hospital and others despite it being a small corporation. 1972-1979: Secretary/Treasurer of Adexco Resources Corporation (co-founder)A Liechtenstein corporation with international holdings and funding support for projects and trust fund management. COMMUNICATIONS:

1994 - Recipient of government grant and private funding in the US for the Production of Criminal Justice documentaries to showcase successful rehabilitation programs intended to boost government and civic support of offender reintegration. One was broadcast on Public Broadcast System and now used as material in university courses on Criminal Justice and as library reference in many prisons in the US. Another was used to develop a national program in the US for the hiring of ex-offenders by corporations.2000-2002 – Producer, Director and writer of TV documentaries in the US and Asia for broadcast and private circulation to donor agencies and to provide information to specialized markets. Subjects include Drug Rehabilitation, Criminal Justice, HIV prevention initiatives, preventative health care based on diet and alternative medicine, Dark Room technology and the use of indigenous and organic materials in fashion.1990 to present: Articles in various publications, posting on websites in a few languages on a wide range of topics covering energetic healing, conservation, criminal justice, spiritual methodologies and political changes.

ITC LINKS:

Participated in the successful promotion of Austin Texas as the site of two IT consortiums – MCC and Sematech. Supplied steel to the construction of both facilities and resulted in being solicited by a California IC process group to become a co-founder of a Semi-Sematech start-up briefly in 1986.1980-1986 – Underwriter of Cybertronics Corporation, R&D that attempted to manufacture hardware for servicing the security needs of multi-unit buildings unsuccessfully. 1996- 1999 Proponent/co-founder of US/Philippine partnership to deliver 4-year BS Computer Science degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology through the Systems Technology Institute (Philippines) with their 70 sites, 140,000 enrollment. Hybrid approach was designed to enable realistic integration of IT within limitations of infrastructure in Developing Countries but resulted in 87% failure rate.1999- Co-founder of Virtual University Technologies designed to promote distance learning among Public School educators in an island nation setting and explored creation of content for French Telecom subsidiary through TV-based education for mass delivery.2001- Led initiatives for a Thailand Think Tank to explore expanded use of ITC by small farmers to participate in globalization measures. Involved contacts with MIT Media Lab.2002- Promoter/Consultant to Philippine cyber cafe operations seeking partnership with local government units in the Philippines to promote greater use of computers by rural residents in an affordable self-funding manner.
