RC Holy Spirit and partners bring free healthcare services to

1,600 members of the local community

The Gamot Para sa Kapwa medical/dental/diagnostic mis-sion held at the Don Antonio Heights covered court and eld-erly center last February 12, 2011 drew a large crowdmostly from depressed areas within Barangay Holy Spirit.The health mission was a partnership project of RCHS with

the SM Foundationas principal sponsor, the Don AntonioHeights Homeowners Association (DAHHA), Greater DonAntonio Heights Senior Citizens Association, and the StBenedicts Parish Pastoral Council (SBPPC).

PP Dr Roger Belleza, Chair of RCHS Health & Wellness, spearheaded this project. He organizsome 25 medical practitioners who provided free consultation services to 979 patients. Dr Rogstood as exemplar of Rotarys international motto Service Above Self. This day, although still tiredfrom a medical mission the previous day, Dr Roger stayed on until the last patient had been served

RCHS Rotarians Dr Marlene Martinez and Dr Jong Myeong Kim and a volunteer SMF dentist provided tooth extraction and related services. PE Dr Terry Amado and IPP Dr Tessie Estrellado of osister club, RC Marikina North of District 3800, came to share their time and expertise as well. R

Peth Rivera assisted the dentists whileRotaractorKevin Laragan and SBPPC volunteers servas dental aides. A total of 254 dental patients were served.

Rtn Dr Myeong brought three portable dental chairs and a complete array of dental tools and implements. It was an inspiring sight to see Dr Myeong, a Korean like Rtns Dr Bong and David Kim, pviding free dental service to many patients, assisted by his wife and young relatives.

Rtn Dr Eui Bong Jungadministered acupunctureto 20 patients, some of whom were initially scaredto be needle-pricked, but the handsome, gentle acupuncturist put his patients at ease in no time.

The Quezon City Red Cross, at the instance of Sec JR Delgra, sent a stand-by ambulance with 5paramedics in case of any emergency. QCRC also sent 5 nurses for taking vital signs and meaurements.

SMF provided all the medicines, medical supplies & equipment, mobile x-ray and ECG van. T

diagnostic services served many patients: ECG- 84, x-ray- 155, RBS/FBS- 102, urinalysis- 47, cholesterol test- 21. A lecture on nutrition was also given to senior citizens at the elderly center.

DAHHA provided venue, tables & chairs and utility services. Breakfast, snacks and lunch wereserved by DAHHA to about 150 volunteers and organizers, from donations solicited by Dr Roger.

PP Roger, Pres Dodgie and Treas Marcia (who supervised the deployment ofRotaractors and Interactors) had coordinated with partner-groups for this mission over the past few months. IPP LindaPalattao, Peth Rivera, David Kim and the others helped ensure success of the event on Feb 12th.

Once again, members of the Rotaract and Interact

Clubs of Holy Spirit demonstrated commendable

performance in providing assistance to patients

and medical professionals during the recently-

concluded medical/dental/diagnostic mission.

They competently manned the registration desks

for medical and dental patients as well as for the

ECG and x-ray cases. Rotaract President James

Lorenzo and his team effectively managed the

queue of medical and dental patients waiting for

their turn, pacifying the sometimes unruly, rude

and impatient ones.Congratulations to our young partners-in-servicefor another job well done!

RC VisMin QC spearheads campaign

to assist fire victims

RCVMQC and its partners PAGER & BJMP have

initiated an outreach project to provide immedi-

ate assistance to the victims of the recent fires

in Barangay Bahay Toro (Feb 14) and AghamRoad (Feb. 7), both in Quezon City. The club is

currently accepting donations of relief items

(canned goods, rice, noodles, water, used

clothes, and other necessities, etc) from Rotary

partners, the BJMP and other organizations who

wish to help the fire victims.

With RCHS as main sponsor, the Rotaract and Inter-

act Clubs of Holy Spirit held a truly meaningful cele-

bration of the Araw ng Kabataan last Saturday, Feb

19, at the Gilarmi covered court in the Barangay.

They brought cheers to about 700 kids from their

host community through a program of mass feeding,games & contests with prizes, and a movie mara-

thon. The clubs fund raising activity was timed with

this day-long event. Details in next weeks Dove.

RC Holy Spirit sends 16 volunteers (9 Rotarians & 7 Rotarac-tors) to assist in the anti-polio immunization drive organized by

District 3780 and the QC government. (Read next weeks Dove)
