Weather & Windy Days Weather conditions cause problems with the collection of trash and recyclables. Containers frequently tip over, causing spillage and materials to be strewn throughout streets and neighborhoods. In an effort to assist in the prevention of these situations, the following are suggestions:

• Bag and tie trash and/or recyclables before placing in barrels – This will make clean up efforts easier should the barrels blow over.

• Avoid placing trash and/or recycling out on windy days – If possible; do not set your trash or recyclables out for collection on windy days. Bag any excessive trash and recyclables that will not fit in your barrel and Burrtec will collect all accumulated bags along with your containers on your next scheduled collection day.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping Rialto neighborhoods clean

Barrel ReminderTrash, recycling and green waste barrels left out beyond 12 hours after servicing can cause a nuisance and interfere with street sweeping. Be sure to remove residential solid waste barrels per City municipal code, (Ord. 1234 (part), 1995: Ord. 1204 § 5, 1993: Ord. 830 (part), 1981).

Clean the Green Adhering to the green waste program requirements by placing the proper material in your container is critical to creating a long-term sustainable solution for green waste.

Top 5 Items to Keep OUTof the Recycling Bin

Here are the 5 top items that should never be placed in the recycling bin: 1. No Garden Hoses. Despite being made from rubber, vinyl or a

combination of both, this item still belongs in the trash.

2. No Diapers. Diapers should be placed in your trash bin.

3. No Hazardous Waste. This means no paint, motor oil, batteries, syringes, needles, etc. Hazardous wastes place our facility staff at risk. Do not place it into the trash bin.

4. No Pet Food Bags. The wax coating prevents the bags from breaking down in the recycling process, so pet food bags go into the trash bin.

5. No Electronic Waste. These items are best recycled through a proper e-recycler.
