Good Bye Gaylene!

Rehoboth Christian Ministries Mission StatementIn obedience to the will of God, Rehoboth shall convey God’s love to persons with disabilities and their families by “making room” for them through personal support, advocacy and public education and by providing them with opportunities for personal growth and meaningful participation in society.

Financial PolicySpending of funds is confined to Board approved programs and purchases. Each donation that is designated toward an approved program will be used as designated with the understanding that when any given need has been met, designated donations will be used where most needed.

Gaylene Archibald, Re-gional Director for Re-

hoboth-Three Hills, retired on August 31 after 12 years of service to the Rehoboth-Three Hills program. Gay-lene was the first employee hired for our Three Hills pro-gram and was instrumental in expanding the program from the original 8 individu-als to the current enrollment of 10 Residential, 15 Day Pro-

gram, and 2 Outreach pro-gram participants. Gaylene’s enthusiasm, dedication, spir-itual strength, and infectious laugh, will be sorely missed by staff and clients alike. We wish her well and, as she is not actually moving away, in-tend to tap into her tool box of skills from time to time.

Thank you Gaylene! And may God bless you in your travels.

What keeps a choir going for so many years? An ongoing interest by hundreds of Edmonton children - including some of the children of those who were in the choir when it started.

Since 1978, the choir has maintained a close partnership with Rehoboth. Re-cordings, tours and worship services have allowed the children to encour-age public support of Rehoboth’s min-istries. This year’s 30th anniversary will allow former choir members and the community to join in remembering and celebrating the gifts that children can bring to worship and a cause such as Rehoboth Camp.

Rein Selles, Director, indicated that the invitation to Ken Medema to par-ticipate was important for two reasons: “First, we wanted to give interested children and adults who have been in-volved in the choir a chance to share their memories and hear those memo-ries sung back in a song. Second, we asked Ken to write a song for this year’s choir and to come and join us in pre-senting it as a new hymn for celebrating God’s faithfulness.

Let The Children Come! The Joyful Noise Choir of Edmonton celebrates 30 years of ministry with children and Rehoboth November 1-9, 2008.

Edmonton’s West End Christian Re-formed Church originally encouraged the choir’s formation and will welcome the choir with Ken for a celebration service November 9 at 10:00 AM. “This will give us an opportunity to thank the congregation and God for all he has done for and through the choir,” said Selles.

Seniors (and grandparents) have also been a special part of the joint ministry. As part of the anniversary, the choir will tour to Woodynook CRC, Lacombe on November 1 to provide a unique Seniors Tea for seniors from La-combe, Ponoka, Rimbey and Red Deer churches. Seating is limited so seniors will be requested to reserve seats. Lo-cal church bulletins will provide more information in October.

Anniversary plans include a live recording of the music presented by the choir, Ken and other special guests over the weekend. All proceeds from the celebrations will be presented to Rehoboth.

Plan to join us! For more informa-tion contact Linda Rosendal at Re-hoboth - 780-963-4044.

COALDALERehoboth/Coal-dale has had a wonderful and busy summer! Many of the individuals we serve, and some staff members, attended Camp Rehoboth, and it was the high point of their summer. Others also enjoyed day

trips to Waterton, The Carriage House in Raymond, and various other local attractions.

We also kept busy at the vocational site, where our fabulous summer students provided wonderful activities for us to enjoy! In June we had a carnival, with games such as mini-putt, bowling, feed

the clown and a dunk tank. The hit of the day was the dunk tank, everyone had great fun trying to dunk staff and the summer students!

Rehoboth / Coaldale also had our own Chinese Olympics at Park Lake! We
