Dear Fifth Graders,
This has been an exciting year. Everyone has made my second year as Principal of PS 204 a memorable one. Itwas filled with many wonderful moments that will become cherished memories of many years to come. I amdelighted in seeing you in action in the classroom thinking deeply about your books, writing informationalreports, identifying elements of science fiction and learning about multiplication, division and fractions.
This coming September you will be attending various middle schools. As young adults you will be given newchoices and independence, you will meet new students and get to know new teachers. Some of you may feelnervous and uncertain about moving on to Middle School. No matter what, I assure you that you will be madewelcome and there will always be someone to support you if needed. It is very exciting to go to a new schooland to learn new things, so open up your mind to these experiences. Make the most of these years and achieve asmuch as you possibly can. You have been excellent students and we are sad to see you leave. We hope that youwill remember your years here at PS 204 in a great way.
As you prepare for Middle School, take this chance to dedicate yourself to making the next year even better.Remember that you don't have to follow the crowd. Do the right thing, even if no one is looking. Study hard andremember that you're investing in yourself with every test you take and every book you read. And finally, don'tbe in too big of a hurry to grow up. These are some of the great times in your life. Don't rush past them.
I'll leave you with this final quote, from a great author with whom I imagine you are all familiar, by the name ofDr. Seuss.
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go."
And so my fifth graders continue to be enthusiastic, dream your great dreams and find satisfaction in your dailyvictories. You have important work ahead of you, and you have been well prepared to do all that is necessary tosucceed. I will miss each and every one of you. Please come back and visit.
Much love,
Amanda BlatterPrincipal

What a great experience it has been for me to watch you grow during your time at 204. I have had the pleasure ofbeing your assistant Principal and for some of you, your first grade teacher. Thanks to you and your familiesfor making this year such a memorable one.
I hope you have taken away from P.S. 204 a passion for learning and the skills that will prepare you for your futureas you finish the first milestone in your education. It has been wonderful to see you shine both in and out for theclassroom. I hope you hold onto the things that you have discovered make you special as you continue to persevereand strive for your best.
Always remember your beginnings at P.S. 204. We always look forward to students returning so that we cancontinue to share in your accomplishments throughout the years. The room and halls of 204 won't be the samewithout you. I will miss you all and am extremely proud!
With Love,Ms.Rachel Hunger
Congratulations to all of our wonderful fifth graders as you celebrate the first leg of your educationaljourney!
It has been a privilege to be a part of your lives, and to watch you grow from eager kindergartners intothoughtful, inquisitive fifth graders. The moments you shared as students at PS 204-becoming "ladies andgentlemen" in ballroom dancing; preparing for your wonderful performances in the Jungle Book and theLion King; working diligently in all of yours classes, will be looked upon fondly as you continue to grow. The experiences you have had at PS 204 have helped to shape your character and the person you are tobecome.
You have spent the past six years developing the skills that will make you critical thinkers and prepareyou for your future. May the words of Eleanor Roosevelt ring true and inspire you- "The Future belongs tothose who believe in the beauty of their dreams. "Dream big, and be confident in your ability to changeour world with your individual gifts, creativity, tenacity and perseverance. I will miss seeing you and yourbeautiful smiles every day, but look forward to you returning and sharing your new experiences!
