Colorado parents have options when it comes to their children’s education. While enrolling your

kids in your neighborhood school has many benefits, including bus transpor-tation and a population of local families you may already know, you might find it’s not the best fit for your child. Our state’s school of choice policy allows students to apply to any school as long as it’s not at capacity and can meet any special needs the child might have. If you’d prefer an education with a nature and science base, a world school, or a school with an IB program, the directory below will allow you to explore options, and includes contact information and appli-cation deadlines for each district. Read on for explanations of some of the dif-ferent programs offered by district.

Parents interested in sending their chil-dren to a school other than their neigh-borhood school should follow the in-structions available at www.psdschools.org/academics/educational-choices/school-choices and complete the appli-cation that can be found there. If total applicants for any school exceed avail-able space for that school, then an au-tomated lottery system will be utilized. Families who have been accepted will be notified and given two school days to accept or decline. Families who are not accepted will be placed on a waiting list if they choose. Advanced Placement/College Credit: These are intense courses designed to pre-pare students for higher education, boost college applications, and in some cases transfer as college credits.

Alternative Program/School: Specialized assistance for students requiring non- traditional learning environments.
