Mr. E.M. Najeeb, CMD ATE Travels, took time out for an exclusive one on oneinterview with Karun Budhraja, Dy. GM, Marketing Communications, Amadeus Indiaand shared his views on some burning topics. Following are the excerpts of theinterview.

A: Amadeus Vista has been an instanthit with our younger travel consultantswho are more attuned to working withthe windows based graphical interfacefront office reservation tool; and theprovision of an enhanced commandscreen mode has been equally goodat getting converts from the oldercrowd who are handy with the crypticcommand screen options. Access toa graphical point and click interfaceto the majority of transactions to andfrom the host adds to the usability ofthe system even by a computernewbie; equally attractive is the split-screen option and the ease by whicheven very complex queries can behandled. The addition of simplifiedentry process for car, hotel, cruiseand ferry bookings is especially usefulto the leisure segment and thepresentation of other travel relatedinformation services such as industrynews, customer profiles and providerinformation combine to make a muchmore functional tool for both novice &expert users.

Q: Finally, what message would you liketo give to the industry at large?

A: One must conduct business in anethical framework, with the customeras the central focus, keeping in mindour responsibilities to the customer,our employees, to society and finallyto us. We must be competitive at alltimes, constantly innovate and acceptchange as a constant reality.

Amadeus SwitchAmadeus, the most user friendly CRS, comesout with an equally user friendly tool called theAMADEUS SWITCH !

Amadeus Switch converts the commands of oneCRS into another and these can be transmitted tothe Amadeus Central System as well. It acts as a

catalyst for those users who have worked on one CRS andnow wish to be experts on Amadeus.

To assist further, the inbuilt E-QRG inculcates all Amadeusentries for an easy reference.

COSMOS FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM1. This product would help the travel agents enroll their clients for the

Air Sahara-Cosmos Frequent Flier programme and enable them toget all privileges associated with it.

2. A temporary card number is processed for the passenger.3. The travel agency is informed of this number through a queue

message which is automatically generated from the provider’sserver into the Amadeus system.

4. The travel agent simply needs to fill in all details pertaining to theirclient in the relevant boxes as shown below.

5. Agent gets this form to fill up after he clicks on the “SAHARACOSMOS APPLICATION”.

! The itinerary receipt can be emailed by inserting this entry inthe PNR:ITR-EML-email address

! The agent and audit coupon can be printed upto 07 days of ticketissue by the entry TTR (also see HETTR help page for more options).

! The entry TTP/TKT/ET entry should be done prior to issuing ane-Ticket to see if any system mandatory elements are missing orerroneous (this will not prompt you for FOIDs - so always checkthe HEETTXX page to be sure whether or not an airline requiresform of identification entry - SRFOID).

! Please be advised that on receiving a reject on doing the TTPentry, the system consumes the e-Ticket number in the background.Check the TJQ entry to see if you have received any CANN status.Call the Amadeus helpdesk (on the nation wide toll free number1600-111-200) before repeating this entry. Do not repeat the TTPentry without checking and rectifying the reason of the reject.

! It is advisable to restrict the e-Ticket issue to a maximum of 2 to3 tickets in one go. The airline can restrict the maximum no. ofsegments and passengers allowed in e-Ticketing. The HEETTXXpage for the “IN” market displays such restrictions.

!!!!! We wish to emphasise that some airline require form ofIdentification (FOID) as the mandatory field for issuing an e-Ticket.Hence, it is imperative to add the FOID in a PNR whileissuing an e-Ticket and the entry for the same is:SR FOID XX HK/-FF1234567890, where,SR, is the transaction code. FOID, is the SSR code.XX, is the 2-letter code, depending upon the airline.FF, is the form of identification, as Frequent Flyer Card No.

! Please ensure all your staff is fully trained on e-Ticketing. Forany training required on e-Ticketing please contact our products& training team at [email protected]

For details on the above, please refer to HE SR,GPSR2.The HEETTXX (XX is the airline code) should be checked to seewhether or not the FOID is required by the validating airline.
