    Introduction:-

This project works as a digital thermometer

Thermometer displays the ambient temperature through a

    LCD display.

It consists of two sections. One is that which senses the

temperature. This is a temperature sensor LM 35. The other

section converts the temperature value into a suitablenumber in Celsius scale which is done by the ADC0804.

The LM 35 IC generates a 10mV variation to its output voltage

for every degree Celsius change in temperature.

    LM 35:

LM35is a temperature sensor with its output proportional to

    the temperature (in oC).

The operating temperature range is from -55C to 150C.

The output voltage varies by 10mV in response to every oC

    rise/fall in ambient temperature.

    ADC 0804:

    8-bit analog to digital

    convertor

    The digital outputs vary

from 0 to a maximum of

    255.

    The time taken to convert

    the analog value to digital

value is dependent on thisclock source.

    MC AT89C51:

    AT89C51 is an 8-bit

    microcontroller and belongs

    to Atmel's 8051 family.

has 4KB of Flashprogrammable and erasable

    read only memory and 128

    bytes of RAM.

there are four portsdesignated as P1, P2, P3and

    P0.

LCD:A 16x2 LCDmeans it can display 16 characters per line and there

    are 2 such lines.

This LCD has two registers, namely, Command and Data.

    Working:

the temperature sensor LM 35 sense temperature and produce

the output like as 20,30,40C. For each C it produce 10 mV

    output .

The output of LM 35 goes to the ADC 0804 and this

converted voltage output into 8 bit data inside the chip.

Inside the MC 89C51 the hole process is going on with the

    help of program.

The data pin of LCD is connected to the MC 89C51

&according to MC the measured temperature is display on

    LCD .

    Application:

Digital thermometer are often used in clinic setting on

    patients

Thermometer are used to give air , atmosphere and water

    temperature readings.

laboratory use includes monitoring experiments and chemical

reactions as well as maintaining an optimal laboratory

    environment.

Thermometers used for health care ,cooking and monitoring

temperature on home appliances such as the refrigerator or

    swimming pool.

    Conclusion:

Hereby we come to an end of our project Digital

    thermometer.

This project gives an idea about working of a sensor LM 35,

    ADC0804 and MC 89C51.

This project can be used anywhere either at home or industries.

    This is also cost efficient.

    Measurement accuracy is better.

    It is easy to use.
