PETTWAY LECTURES
The Pettway Lectures honors Miss Laura Pettway, Julia Taylor White, and the many other women who have demonstrated faithful service in this congregation.
First funded with a bequest of more than $20,000 from Miss Laura Pettway and later increased with an anonymous gift of $20,000 in honor of Julia Taylor White, the lectures are supported with the income earned on the corpus, which is now invested in New Covenant funds. Additional gifts in honor of or in memory of our faithful Presbyterian Women are always welcome.

CIRCLE MEETING CALENDAR
PW Circles meet during the week of the second Tuesday on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday of each month, September through April. All Circles participate in a combined dinner meeting the second Tuesday in May.
The PW Coordinating Team (CT) meetings occur on the Sunday preceding the Circle meetings in designated months and following the 11:00 a.m. service. Meetings will be Sept. 11, Nov. 6, Jan. 8, Mar. 12, and May 7.
The Tuesday Night Circle meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in homes. (See Circle Roster for hostess.)
The Lydia Circle meets the Thursday following the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Cherokee Country Club.
The Esther Circle meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Bistro at the Bijou.
The Miriam Circle meets the Monday preceding the
second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Session Room at the Church.
Day Circles meet at 10:30 a.m. unless otherwise specified. -Combined meetings with coffee(*) or lunch(**) are
held at the church. A lunch is served in September and December.
• - A lunch is served in September and December.- Brunch and a program(***) are also provided in alternating years in March for a joint meeting with Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Women.-Coffee with snacks is served in October and January.-The Hostess Circle is responsible for snacks.-In November, February, and April, the Day Circles meet in homes.

SOCIAL SERVICE PROJECTS
Projects for 2016-17 include:
• Circle 1 & Circle 2: Jesus’ Friends Christmas Party.• Tuesday Night Circle: Fish Pantry, Faithful Friends Visitation, Jesus’ Friends Class.• Lydia Circle: Work with UKirk at UT, Knoxville; breakfast for youth on Youth Sunday.• Esther Circle: Rose for newborn at church and book presented to parents; Family Crisis Center.• Miriam Circle: Parents’ Day Out and Community School of the Arts
Each Circle has been budgeted $50 to help with its social service project.

SPECIAL OFFERINGSThank Offering (November)This offering recognizes God’s blessings to us. Elizabeth Clokey of Springfield began it in Springfield, Ohio, in 1888. The Thank Offering is used for health ministries and mission projects.
Birthday Offering (May)The birthday of each PW organization has been celebrated since 1922. Traditionally Presbyterian women have given one penny for each year of their life. The offering is given to PW designated mission projects.
Least CoinIn the Circle of Prayer and the Fellowship of the Least Coin, Christian women of nearly seventy countries share on an equal basis in an act of prayer for each other and the peoples of the world. Each month we set aside the least coin of our country as a visible sign of this covenant fellowship. We encourage all to share in this circle offering. In April, this money is turned in each year at the Annual Gathering of the Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of East Tennessee.

Mission Haven 235 Inman DriveDecatur, GA 30030 Mission Haven is a furlough home for Presbyterian missionaries. Located adjacent to Columbia Seminary, it provides short-term lodging for missionaries who are studying at the seminary or other schools in the area or who are in transition after retirement or the end of their term. It offers a clothes closet of good donated clothing to the missionaries and to students at local Presbyterian seminaries.
