7:00 pm
From the Auxiliary President Hello Auxiliary Members:
The time is really flying by; before you know it, Thanksgiving will be here. But before that we will be celebrating Veterans Day. The Post again will be having their spaghetti dinner (times of dinner else-where noted in newsletter). Items are needed for the Auxiliary bake sale, so if anyone would like to bring in baked goods we would appreciate it. Monies collected from the bake sale will go in our donation fund to help pay expenses that we as an Auxiliary are mandated to contribute to: just to name a few like the VA where we give goodie bags to the recovery center during the different Holidays; buy items for the home in Bellevue; money for what we call the Stand Down, which is in November and these items are for homeless Veterans. We will also have a raffle going that day; we will be selling tickets for the items with a drawing every hour. This money will go into our general fund to help us with expenses like new podium books, Auxiliary pins, and basically any items pertaining to Auxil-iary needs or to help the Post with some repairs. All items have been donated, and there is quite of a variety to choose from. So come out to the Post November 11 and have a good time. I know you are tired of me repeating the same thing, but we still need a few more members to pay their dues. If you know some-one who hasn’t paid their dues remind them. There are approxi-mately 40 some members who have not paid their dues yet. If dues are not paid by December 31, 2019, you will no longer be considered a member, losing all benefits you have. SO PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES, WE DON’T WANT TO LOSE YOU AS A MEMBER! New members are $24.00 a year. Dues for members renewing tmemberships are $19.00 a year. Don’t forget to pay your dues. Life information cost is on bottom right corner of application.
Loyally Submitted, Lynn Krause President 402-553-7562

From the Commander Greetings: We were honored to have the National Jr Vice
Commander Fritz Mihelcic attend our Post meeting in
October. He had a lot of good things to say about our Post
and said he was impressed that we are keeping up VFW
traditions.
I would like to thank Bruce Husted and the American
Legion Post 112 for all of their efforts putting together a
Halloween party; a good time was had by all who
attended.
Thanks to Darryl and Tom for getting the parking lot well
lit. It turned out to be more of a project than planned, but
all went well.
Don’t forget to come join us for some of the best spaghetti
in town on Veterans Day, November 11th. The Post will be
open on that Monday. See the ad in the newsletter for
details. There will also be some real nice raffles and silent
auction items along with a great time with friends.
As always, I’d like to thank all the members who do so
much to keep our Post running like a well-oiled machine.
TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!
RESPECT
Mike Rosso -
Commander - VFW Post 2503

CHAPLAIN’S MESSAGE: WE ARE THERE:
A common question heard from children is Are we there yet? Yet, just where are we going? The mission of those in
uniform is to resolve foreign conflicts and maintain peace at home. And after an accomplishment, they like to hear
praise, such as You’re the Man! (or Woman!)
1 JOHN 4:19: We love because He loved us first. PROVERBS 20:27: The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, search-
ing all the depths of his heart. And in all seriousness, MATTHEW 11:30: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and give thanks to God.
With much love,
Rev Rod
Our Veterans Know Community Service
At the October Post meeting, the National VFW Junior Vice Commander Fritz Mihelchic praised our Post for how we follow the long-standing VFW traditions for conducting our monthly meetings. He also recognized our own Junior Vice Command-er Al Dorn for his work with Mick Wagoner and the Veterans Treatment Court. At the meeting Fritz Mihelchic stated the strength of our VFW Post is the valuable service we give to our community.
As Veterans, our unique training and team skills make us ideal for community service and representing our VFW. We have many important roles at the Post for our volunteer service. One is Post Member Mick Wagoner who needs volunteers to work with him at the Douglas County Veterans Treatment Court. This is a service to help our comrades, who have run afoul of the law and who have come to terms with their past actions, to get added help from Veteran mentors to move successfully into the future. We need members to join our Honor Guard. It’s lots of work, but each of our current Honor Guard members are some of the most visible, recognized, and honored in our community with service to funerals, parades, and special events. They are an excellent team to join to do some of our most honorable work. If you are willing to help honor veterans, please come by the Post and we will find the right person for you to learn more.
