VFW Post 2503 owes a BIG THANKS to AM VETS for covering the cost of the stove repair in the Post kitchen. Also, Thank You to Amanda Colanino and Candy Campbell for preparing the Tom & Jerrys for the Post Canteen on 20 January. In the next couple of weeks, you’ll find an envelope in your mail- box requesting donations for the VFW Post 2503 Building & House Committee Fund. Please return the enclosed receipts with your donations, so your name will be entered into the drawing for prizes. The drawing will be St. Patrick’s Day at the Post Canteen. At this month’s Post Meeting, the winners of the Patriot’s Pen and the Voice of Democracy competitions will be recognized. Volunteers are needed for the Post Visitation Team. From the Commander Greetings!

VFW Post 2503 owes a BIG THANKS to AM VETS for covering

the cost of the stove repair in the Post kitchen.

Also, Thank You to Amanda Colanino and Candy Campbell for

preparing the Tom & Jerrys for the Post Canteen on 20 January.

In the next couple of weeks, you’ll find an envelope in your mail-

box requesting donations for the VFW Post 2503 Building &

House Committee Fund. Please return the enclosed receipts with

your donations, so your name will be entered into the drawing for

prizes. The drawing will be St. Patrick’s Day at the Post Canteen.

Hello Auxiliary Members,

The Holidays are over and now we have to get back to work

to complete our programs. Program reports need to be to the

Department chair by April.

Now I would like to give Auxiliary members some infor-

mation some of you may not know, again this is for VFW

AUXILIARY MEMBERS ONLY. VFW Auxiliary mem-

bers are eligible for a Cancer Grant from the National organi-

zation if they encounter the devastating disease Cancer

LADIES OF THE AFTERNOON The Post 2503 Sewing Ladies always welcome new members to

create items to be distributed to the Eastern Nebraska Veterans

Home, the VA Hospital, Lutheran Family Service, and other nursing

homes and hospitals.

Assistance is welcomed for various sewing projects: Lap

Robes, Bibs, Fleece Cancer Hats, and Neck pillows.

Donations of cotton cloth materials are appreciated as

well as financial assistance to support the purchase of

needed sewing materials.

in on the fun. It really is!

Application will be rejected if member has been deceased for longer

than 30 days. If you need a form to fill out, you can either contact

the Auxiliary Treasurer Sue Stark or Auxiliary President Lynn

Krause. You can also get on line to get this form that gives you all

the information you need, not only for you to complete but also

the attending Physician.

To get this form from National on your computer, go to VFW NA-

TIONAL ORGANIZATION, then go to MEMBER BENEFITS, scroll

down to additional benefits to Cancer grants. The forms can be printed

off with not only this information but also instructions pertaining to

applying. I am writing this article because it was brought to my atten-

The Post is selling Memorial Bricks around the

memorial walk and flag. Memorial Bricks are being sold by Post 2503 to be

put around the outside of the Memorial flag pole.

These bricks will cost $60.00 each. They will be for

VFW, Auxiliary, AMVET & Auxiliary members,

their families, and people they sponsor. They will be

memorials for living or deceased people. They will

be ordered once a year on April 1st, for installation

by Memorial Day each year. Max 16 spaces per line,

3 lines, and cost $60.00 per brick.
