USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) has been administering MFP to provide the first payments to producers since September 2018 for the first 50 percent of their 2018 production. Producers need only sign-up once for the MFP to be eligible for the first and second payments. Producers must complete an application by January 15, 2019 but have until May 1, 2019, to certify their 2018 production. For farmers who have already applied, completed harvest, and certified their 2018 production, a second payment will be issued on the remaining 50 percent of the producer’s total production automatically --- multiplied by the MFP rate for the specific commodity. This position will be with full benefits starting the day of employment, it will also include educational training for lineman. The educational training is pending contract negotiations for tuition & expenses with payback provisions in the event that the contract is not fulfilled. Hinckley seconded the motion. It has been determined that “the property has become a refuse and breeding ground for mosquitoes, flies and varmint.” The City has given proper notice, as provided in the ordinances, to request that the owner take care of the conditions that had been outlined, and has not done so. By resolution, the Board voted to legally pursue the issue. Locals Father Mark McGregor of Denver, CO concelebrated Mass at St. John’s Church in Plankinton with Father Bob Lacey this past Sunday. In his Christmas travels to South Dakota he visited his Krell family relations in Plankinton before heading up to Watertown to spend time with his mother Pat, and sister Ann, and family. Pastor Randy Hedge and Ralland Bartelt, joined by Holly Hedge and a cameo appearance by Donna Bucher, performed Christmas music at the Commerce last Saturday evening to a very appreciative audience. Pastor Randy’s little granddaughter Lydia offered some interpretive dance, as well.
