If youre experiencing ongoing inflammation of theear, nose or throat, then we can assist you.
In 1962 we were using Dr. Buehrig and Dr.Bullard. Our son Tom Stamper came down sickwith a very high fever so we took him in to see Dr.Buehrig. Dr. ONeill had just started there at thesmall clinic in Clarkston. Dr. Buehrig went overand got Dr. ONeill to come take a look at Tom tosee what he thought about his situation. Dr.ONeill immediately said he has polio.
Dr. ONeill sent us to St. Joes hospital in Pontiacand immediately Tom went into a unit that wasintense hot packs 8 hrs a day and gammaglobulin shots. They had the iron lung machinesoutside the door in case he had lost his breathing.
Immediately I was given double gamma globulinshots because I was 3 months pregnant with ourdaughter Tammy. They called in the head doctorfrom Sister Kenny Foundation to watch over him
too. He was wrapped in hot packs for 7 weeks 8hours daily. We had a private nurse who did
Having the benefit of practicing medicine for so many years, my father has gained a very valuable perspective on what a blessing good health is. He has watched what has been themost dramatic period of improved health we have ever known. From the discovery of penicillin (he actually drove Dr. Alexander Fleming and his wife around for a day while working as anassistant to Archbishop Ryan when he was in college) to the eradication of small pox to the virtual elimination of polio, he has witnessed an amazing period of discovery that most of ustake for granted. When he ordered an IV as an intern they actually had to mix their own solution in glass bottles; today we just pull another premixed bag out of the box. This touchingstory reminds us of another time when healthcare wasnt so advanced and very intensive nursing and physician care was all we h ad to help people through illnesses we couldnt prevent
or just treat with some antibiotics. Thank you to the Stamper family for both sharing their wonderful story and wishing my father well. ~ Dr. Timothy ONeill
them every day. Only God was on our sidethrough the whole thing.
When Tom was discharged from St. Joes wehad to take him 5 days a week for therapy until Ihad Tammy the following February. It was such atiring thing on me to carry him in there every daybecause he was a big baby. At 3 years old hewas 35 lbs and I was pregnant the whole time.
Tom today has had a wonderful life; it didn't leavehim paralyzed at all and he only has a slight limpafter all these years. His limbs have been weakbut over all he has done wonderfully.
Thank God for such a wonderful man as Dr.James ONeill because we feel like he savedToms life by knowing that he had polio. We knewDr. ONeill had polio also, and he would talk to us
about it. When Tom was in there all those weeksDr. ONeill would say this is my baby. He looked
like Dr ONeill; he had the same crew cut that Dr.ONeill had and he looked like he could have beenhis. The nurses would tease my husband and Iabout him looking like Dr. ONeill.
Dr. ONeill has been our doctor since 1962 andhas taken care of all my 5 children, all mygrandkids and also all of my foster kids of 22years. I have 4 adopted children whom he hastaken care of for 22 years also. Tom also uses Dr.ONeill; he is very special to Tom.
Thank God for you Dr. ONeill. I know God has aspecial place in heaven for you not only just formy family but for all the people that you havecared for over all these years. God Bless you forthe wonderful things you have done in your lifetime of practice. We really love you with all ourhearts.
The Stamper Families!!!

WE BUYSCRAP GOLD
& GOLDJEWELRY
By David MorganSTAFF WRITER
Been ollowing the gold and silver marketlately? Well i you have a jewelry box, alock box ull o gold or a co ee can ullo old coins, you should be, accordingto Ohio Valley Refnery spokespersonJohn Miller. The gold and silver marketshave not been this strong or over 30years said Miller. Typically when theU.S. dollar is weak and the economy is
at, gold and silver markets soar. Thats
good news i you are sitting on a ewgold necklaces or an old class ring saysMiller.
Next week, starting Tuesday at9am and every day next week throughSaturday, the Ohio Valley Refnery issetting up a satellite refnery right here inWaterford at the Comfort Inn . Duringtheir 5 day stay, anyone can bring gold, silver or platinum items and turn them in
or immediate payment, explains JohnMiller. Just about everybody has someamount o gold or silver just lying aroundcollecting dust and this week anybody cansell theirs direct to our refnery. Typicallyselling direct to a refnery is reserved orlarger wholesale customers like jewelrystores, pawn shops and laboratories saysMiller. We are changing how businessis done, he explains we want to dobusiness with everybody so we took ourbusiness to the streets. Our teams visitvarious cities around the country hosting5 day events and allowing the generalpublic to take advantage o our services. The turnout has been overwhelmingsays Miller. Usually each day is busierthan the previous day. It seems oncepeople come to us and sell something, they are so amazed what an old ringor gold coin is worth, they go homeand start digging around or more and
telling relatives, riends and neighbors. Its like a eeding renzy by the third day.People line up with everything rom goldjewelry to sterling silver atware sets toold coins. I think during this bad economyeverybody can use extra money, but mostpeople say they are taking advantage oselling direct to our refnery because othe higher prices we pay.
During this special event, anyone iswelcome to bring all types o gold, silverand platinum to the refnery and turn itin or instant payment. The types o itemsthey will accept include all gold jewelry, gold coins, gold ounces, dental gold, old coins made be ore 1965 includingsilver dollars, halves, quarters and dimes, anything marked sterling including
atware sets, tea pots, silver bars, silverounces and all industrial precious metals.
What should you expect i you goto the event to sell your gold and/orsilver? Just gather up all gold, silver andplatinum in any orm. I you are not sure
i its gold or silver, bring it in and theywill test it or ree. When you arrive atthe event you will be asked to fll out asimple registration card and will be issueda number. Seating will be available. When your number is called you will beescorted to a table where your items willbe examined, tested and sorted. This onlytakes a ew minutes, using their expertiseand specialized equipment. Items will becounted and/or weighed. The value othe items will be determined based onup to the minute market prices. Live eedswill be available at the event displaying
current market prices o all preciousmetals. I you choose to sell your items, they will be bagged and tagged and youwill be escorted to the cashier to collectyour payment. Waiting time to sell youritems may range rom just a ew minutesto 1 hour, so bring something to read.I you are the owner o a jewelry store, pawn shop, dentist o fce or a dealer youare encouraged to call ahead to makean appointment with the smelt master todiscuss their special dealer programs. They can be reached during Refnery
hours at (217) 787-7767 .Ohio Valley Refnery will open or
business Tuesday rom 9am6pm. Theevent continues every day through nextSaturday. No appointment is needed orthe general public.
ANTICIPATION HIGH AS OHIO VALLEY GOLD & SILVER REFINERY OPENS FOR BUSINESS
NEXT WEEK IN WATERFORD!
SILVER AND GOLD COIN PRICESUP DURING POOR ECONOMY.
Above: Refnery representatives will be on hand next week starting Tuesday throughSaturday to purchase all gold, silver and platinum items, as well as coins. Public welcome!
Collectors and Enthusiasts inWater ord with $200,000 toPurchase Yours!By Ken McIntoshSTAFF WRITER
Got Coin? It might be just the time tocash in. Next week, starting Tuesdayand continuing through Saturday, theInternational Collectors Association inconjunction with the Ohio Valley Gold& Silver Refnery will be purchasing alltypes o silver and gold coins direct romthe public. All types are welcome and theevent is ree.
Collectors will be on hand to identi yand sort your coins. Then the quality or
grade will be determined. The better thegrade the more they are worth, accordingto collectors I talked to. With the silverand gold markets high, prices o oldercoins are too. Any coins minted be ore1965 in the U.S. are 90% silver, exceptnickels and pennies.
The coins worth is determined by therarity and the grade. Old silver dollarsare worth a great premium right now, even well worn heavily circulated onesare bringing good premiums. Franklinand Kennedy hal dollars, Washingtonquarters, Mercury and Roosevelt dimesare all worth many times the ace value. While older types like Seated Liberty,Standing Liberties, and Barber coins areworth even more.
Gold coins are really worth a lotright now, according to Brian Eades othe International Collectors Association. This country didnt start minting coinsuntil 1792 says Eades. He explained,Be ore that, people would trade goodsusing gold dust and nuggets. Someshop keepers would take more goldthan needed to pay or items purchased. There was no uni orm system o makingchange.
The government opened the frstmints and began distributing the coinsin 1792. By the beginning o the 19th
century, coins and paper currency werewide spread and our monetary systemwas here to stay. In 1933 Rooseveltrequired all banking institutions to turnin all gold coins. Once all banks turnedin this gold, the president raised thegold standard rom $20.00 per ounce to$33.00 per ounce. This was his way ostimulating the economy during the greatdepression. However, gold coins werenever redistributed a ter the recall. But notall gold coins were turned in. Many olksduring that time didnt completely trust thegovernment and chose to keep their goldsaid Eades.
These gold coins are sought a ter bycollectors today and bring many timesthe ace value. Any gold coins with themint marks o CC, D or O will bring nicepremiums. Collectors at the event will beglad to show you where to look. Othertypes o coins will also be purchasedincluding oreign coins, Indian cents, twocent pieces, hal dimes, three cent piecesand bu alo nickels to name a ew.
Collectors warn people againsttrying to clean their coins, as signifcantdamage can be done and the coins valuelessened.
International antique buyers in town next week and ready to stimulate economy!By David MorganSTAFF WRITER
Hundreds o phone calls rom local residents poured in to the corporate o fce o theOhio Valley Gold and Silver Refnery this weekinquiring about items to be purchasedby the team o antique buyers that is on site with OVGSR.

Chamberlains: Sell your unwantedjewelry and make a profit!
One thing Ron & GwenChamberlain, owners ofChamberlains Auction Gallerywould like to stress is not to befooled by gimmicky ads orcommercials by other gold-buyingstores.
Chamberlains is an honest
family-owned business and theowners have lived in theClarkston area all their lives. They have been in the art, jewelryand antique business for 30years. They will pay top dollarfor your unwanted gold and silverjewelry and you can be confidentthat you are getting paid whatyou should! Chamberlains willtest and weigh your gold right infront of you and pay you cash onthe spot. NO GIMMICKS!!!
Please do not fall victim tothese fly-by-night operationsfrom out of state who callthemselves traveling road
shows! They come from out ofstate, pay way below fair market
value and then leave a few days later. Notonly do they rip off the people of Michigan, but they also take money from legitimateMichigan businesses.
Chamberlains will buy your bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, watches, goldand silver coins and bars - even your sterlingtea sets and flatware sets. They will buyanything made of gold, silver or platinumeven your dental gold.
Chamberlain noted that many peoplebought gold jewelry in the 1980s and
1990s when gold was only $400 an ounce. Now that the country is in a recession,
the price of gold hasskyrocketed and is fluctuatingaround $1,200 - $1,400 anounce, the highest in history. It is a perfect time to sell yourunwanted jewelry to make aprofit!
Chamberlain charges
nothing to tell you whether yourjewelry is real or fake and whathe would pay for it. The pricepaid varies on the gold market, but for the past year, goldprices have been consistentlyat a very high level. When theeconomy improves, the priceof gold will drop, so now is thetime to sell.
Chamberlain cant stressenough to take your jewelry toan honest and establishedbusiness. If other gold brokersare offering 25 or 30 percentextra on certain days, theyshould have been paying that in
the first place.
Ron and Gwen Chamberlain of Chamberlainswith Kodi.

Music, science, fitness, math, reading, technology, art appreciation sounds like apretty busy day for an elementary school stu-dent.
However, this is the schedule of apreschooler at The Learning Experience, achild day care center that prides itself on itsaward winning, cutting edge curriculum andprofessional, certified staff members.
Children at The Learning Experience in
Clarkston are exposed to a solid core curricu-lum. The day is structured to include manyeducational components as well as free timeand fun activities. Older children have a cur-riculum workbook that they use everyday andkeep a journal.
Most 4-year-olds at the center are read-ing, said owner Pam Rush.
This is considered a learning center. Wehave a very strong preschool, she said.
However, playing is still a big part of thecenter, and each room is filled with toys.
Besides the two large outside play-grounds, The Learning Experience is uniquewith their own indoor micro-Disneyland calledMake Believe Boulevard.
Children love to explore socio-dramaticplay and the room is one of the favorites!
They adore dressing up and playing in themock house, store, diner and fire department.
The carpeted upper level allows for some freeplay and also has a slide that flows into a ballpit.
At any given time, well see kings, queens and princesses playing, Ms. Pamsaid. We have a lot of fun here!
In addition, children participate in enrich-ment programs such as Fun with Phonics,
dance, art, music, math and science. Spanishand sign language are also included.
A bonus that many parents appreciate isthat there are no fees for enrichment programsas the tuition is all-inclusive.
The facilities at The Learning Experienceare state-of-the-art. From the moment chil-dren and parents enter the building they aregreeted by a warm and caring atmospherethat is clean and conducive to lea rning.
Ms. Pam loves working with children andtheir families and makes sure her staff does,
The Learning Experience staff enjoy teaching and helping children developemotionally, socially and cognitively.
Children learn and play in TLE's fun atmospheretoo. Staff members have to have more than adegree and spotless qualifications. They mustgenuinely enjoy being around children andinteracting with them.
We are here to love other peoples chil-dren and keep them happy, safe and edu-cated, she said.
A team of professionals work together tocoordinate the days activities for children.Everyone, from program and state certified
lead teachers to the paraprofessionals andon-site cook, have one goal: to build a strongfoundation so each child can develop emo-tionally, socially and cognitively at his or herown pace.
Parents concerned about safety and se-curity can rest easy knowing that theyveleft their children in good hands. A securitysystem requires that the doors remain lockedall day with parents given a key fob for ac-cess.
Classrooms contain video monitoring sys-tems so both center administrators and par-ents can check in on the class regularly. Inaddition, all staff members undergo an exten-sive background check.
The Learning Experience is located at 7210Sashabaw Road in Clarkston. For more infor-
mation, visit www.thelearningexperience.comor call 248-625-5285.
