Q. What is hypertension, and why is itso dangerous?

A. Hypertension is another name for highblood pressure. It can cause potentiallyfatal conditions and frequently is referredto as the silent killer since people oftenlive with it for years without experiencingany symptoms.

Left untreated, high blood pressure caninflict serious damage to the body, includ-ing heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and
